About MIUI

MIUI is a mobile operating system developed and maintained by Xiaomi exclusively for its smartphones for updates. It is the custom skin used by Xiaomi on top of the original stock Android.  MIUI is based on Android Open Source Project and serves as the basis for other operating systems created by Xiaomi.

It plays an important role in the Redmi phone or any other xiaomi devices. It provides the interface, looks, various functions and designs to style device performance.

There are different versions for each Xiaomi phone, and each version has variants according to the regions in which the phone is sold, such as China, Japan, Pakistan, Russia, Indonesia, India, Taiwan and Turkey. Alongside MIUI, Xiaomi have also released devices running Google’s Android One. Xiaomi devices usually get three Android version updates, but get MIUI updates for up to four years which has now reduced to two years.

MIUI vs Android

Android is an Operating System, a platform that provides the very basic structure of a smartphone,

while MIUI is the User Interface which has various built in features like call recording, root access, theme support, customized apps etc. which android does not come with.

MIUI is a collection of software that runs on top of android to provide a better user interface than stock android.

Samsung, Xiaomi, HTC .

All of them are Android based.

But their user experience is different, it’s because of the Rom that is made by the company for their smartphones.
