AI Experts Warn of Catastrophic Risks
In the face of rapid AI development, prominent AI experts like Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and AI pioneer Yoshua Bengio issued warnings to lawmakers regarding the potential serious societal risks associated with unrestrained AI progress.
Amodei expressed concern about the misuse of AI on a large scale in critical areas such as cybersecurity, nuclear technology, chemistry, and especially biology. He cautioned that within two to three years, AI could become powerful enough to assist malicious actors in developing functional biological weapons.

Starting in September, the Senate will conduct nine additional panels to explore the potential impact of AI on jobs, national security, and intellectual property.
