The Nigeria Innovation Summit (NIS) has revealed the details of the upcoming 8th edition of its annual event, which will take place at the Muson Centre in Lagos on the 6th of October, 2023.

The topic of “Innovating for the Future” will serve as the driving force behind this year’s summit. The Summit is an annual event that brings together important stakeholders from various sectors of the economy to talk about ground-breaking ideas, trends, opportunities, and numerous verticals to accelerate innovation and solutions that solve unique challenges within Nigeria and on the African continent in general.

Every year, the summit serves as a forum that encourages cooperation across many sectors, including but not limited to government agencies, enterprises, international organisations, innovators, researchers, the academic community, and startup companies. In addition to this, it gives Nigerian innovators, researchers, and businesspeople the chance to exhibit their unique concepts, products, and services that offer solutions for industrial applications, acceptance, and commercialization.

Mr. Tony Ajah, who serves as the summit’s Programme Director, made the following statement when he made the announcement for this year’s summit:

“This is the time for Nigeria, with her vibrant population, to leverage emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Virtual & Augmented Reality, Blockchain, Internet of Things, Robotics, Nanotechnology, Geonomics, Data sciences, etc. and apply them in critical sectors to solve local problems.” 

He continued: “The opportunities and new businesses provided and created by these new technologies are enormous, and we can’t afford to sleep on it as a people. As individual, organisations, and nations around the world are exploring different playbooks to innovate and improve the quality of their lives, Nigeria should not be left out.”

For the eighth year in a row, the Nigeria Innovation Summit (NIS) invites innovation ecosystem professionals from across the world to come to Nigeria in order to share global possibilities with participants at the summit and network with other attendees.

What the NIS 2023 will focus on

This year’s event will have innovation experience presentations, panel discussions, startup pitches, and exhibitions focusing on healthtech, agritech, renewable energy and cleantech, fintech, real estate, edutech, techtainment, and startup/entrepreneurship development in Nigeria. Other topics that will be covered include techtainment, edutech, and techtainment.

All local and international businesses, government agencies, embassies and high commissions, investors, start-ups, entrepreneurs, research centres, the academic community, companies/organizations, SMEs, policymakers, innovators, and all other stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem are welcome to take part in this event.
