Through the implementation of digital technology, the industrial technology company Trimble hopes to open up prospects in a variety of fields in Nigeria, including agriculture, surveying, architecture, mining, and construction, to name a few of these fields’ potential applications.

This is in line with what the corporation has stated regarding the preparations being made for the ‘Trimble Days in West Africa 2023’ conference.

Plenary, breakout sessions, and live demonstrations by Trimble businesses in the geospatial, advanced positioning, land administration, agriculture, construction, and utilities sectors will be featured at the conference, as stated by Albert Momo, Trimble’s vice president and executive director in charge of emerging markets and funded projects.

Remarks from Trimble’s Director

Momo continued: “This event will unlock opportunities in areas including energy, mining, and geospatial as well as provide potential users with the requisite knowledge of Trimble solutions as the company seeks to expand in the West African market.”

“Trimble remains a dedicated industrial technology company that transforms the world in enabling customers to deliver prominent solutions with the use of core technologies in positioning, modeling, connectivity, and data analytics to connect the digital and physical worlds to improve productivity, quality, safety, transparency, and sustainability.”

“Agriculture and Construction alone – two areas Trimble solutions support contributed over a quarter to the nominal GDP of Nigeria on 2023 Q1 and remain sectors that the Nigerian government is very keen to grow,” he concluded.

About Trimble

Trimble Inc. is a software, hardware, and services technology business that is based in the United States. Global industries like building and construction, agriculture, GIS, natural resources and utilities, governments, transportation, and others are supported by Trimble’s products and services.

Additionally, the company is involved in the research and development of hardware, including receivers for the global navigation satellite system (GNSS), scanners, laser rangefinders, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), inertial navigation systems, and software processing tools.

Charles Trimble, along with two partners from Hewlett-Packard, established Trimble Navigation in November of 1978. Its first location was in Los Altos, California, and it was over a movie theatre there.

At the close of 2016, the company had a total of 8,388 employees, with more than half of those workers located in countries other than the United States.

Revolutionizing Agriculture with Technology

Some milestones through the years

The company came together with Caterpillar in 2002 to establish the joint venture known as Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT), with the goal of developing machine control systems that would increase customer productivity and reduce costs associated with earthmoving projects.

Building information modelling (BIM), design, and construction are all areas in which they are playing an increasingly important role. In 2012, they purchased the 3D modelling software suite known as SketchUp from its previous owner, Google.

In addition, as of the year 2014, they were the owners of Tekla (for BIM modelling), Vico Office (for BIM data management), and GTeam (for project coordination) developed by Gehry Technologies.

In 2016, the company completed the acquisition of Sefaira, which provides software for doing sustainability analyses and includes energy modelling and daylight visualisation.

On April 23, 2018, the company entered into a deal with investment company Bain Capital to buy privately held Viewpoint in an all-cash transaction for the price of $1.2 billion, with the completion of the acquisition expected in the third quarter of 2018.

The company’s old ALK Technologies and TMW Appian Final Mile businesses were combined on the 12th of February, 2019, to form a new subsidiary of the company called Trimble MAPS (Maps and Applications for Professional Solutions), which was dubbed “Maps and Applications for Professional Solutions.”

On October 30, 2019, they made the announcement that its board of directors has unanimously elected Robert G. Painter to succeed Steven W. Berglund as president and CEO, beginning January 4, 2020, the first day of the company’s fiscal year 2020. Robert G. Painter will take over for Steven W. Berglund as president and CEO of the company. On the same day, January 4, 2020, Painter became a member of the Trimble Board of Directors.

The next version of Community Load Match capabilities was announced on May 28, 2020, by Trimble and Kuebix to simplify the process of discovering and filling available truckload capacity.[25] A system that makes it easier for shippers and carriers to work together to improve the flow of goods along the supply chain.

A press release was issued by the company on October 6, 2022, informing the public that the company’s headquarters had moved from Sunnyvale, California to Westminster, Colorado.

The corporation formerly known as Trimble Navigation Limited is now known as Trimble Inc.; the change in name, as well as the change in the firm’s legal domicile, took effect on October 1, 2016. The operation of Trimble Inc. did not change, and there were no significant repercussions for the company’s stakeholders. The headquarters of the corporation remained in California until October 2022, when they moved to Westminster, which is located in the state of Colorado.
