The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Me Festus Kwyamo, on Sunday said that Emirates Airlines would start operations in Nigeria, soonest.

This was despite the fact that Keyamo had just revealed that the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had given approval for Nigeria’s carrier, Air Peace Airline, to fly straight into and out of the primary airport in Dubai.

According to a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Press for the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Odutayo Oluseyi, the Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister explained that he had a meeting with the management of Airline Executive, which was led by its CEO, Dana Hatcic. Airline Executive is a company that has expressed interest in establishing an MRO facility in Nigeria.

The outcome of the meeting

According to the statement, the Minister met with officials of Emirates Airlines at the 2023 Dubai Airshow in the United Arab Emirates to further discuss the resumption of flights by the airline to Nigeria. This meeting is said to have produced positive results, as the management has assured that the flight’s resumption will commence very soon.

The management team had productive conversations with the Honourable Minister, and as a result, they have been invited to visit Nigeria to further follow up on their business ambitions there.

The minister said that the inaugural edition of the Nigeria Airshow may take place sometime in November 2024. If this happens, Nigeria will become the first country in Africa to host an event of this kind.

A number of the companies who were exhibiting at the Dubai Airshow have expressed an interest in attending the first iteration of the Nigeria Airshow.

The Dubai Airshow, which began on the 13th of November and ended on the 17th of November, 2023, attracted a significant number of attendees from all over the world, including prominent industry experts in the aviation and aerospace sectors.

About Emirates airlines

Emirates is one of the two airlines that are authorised to fly the flag of the United Arab Emirates. The airline has its headquarters in Garhoud, Dubai, and is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group, which is controlled by the Investment Corporation of Dubai, which is part of the government of Dubai.

It is the official airline of Dubai, which is located in the United Arab Emirates, and it conducts more than 1,990 passenger flights each week from its hub at Dubai International Airport to over 101 destinations located in 61 different countries across six continents. Emirates Airlines began operations in 1985 with a Boeing 727 and an Airbus A300 as its initial aircraft.

Emirates is one of the most well-known airline brands in the world because of its opulent amenities, locally inspired gourmet cuisine, award-winning in-flight entertainment system called ice, and unrivalled hospitality delivered by its iconic multi-lingual Cabin Crew from over 130 different countries.

To begin, the sheer size of the aircraft enables Emirates to provide facilities that are simply inconceivable on aircraft of a lower size. Onboard showers, private suites and a lounge bar are all part of the package here. However, this benefit is not limited to first-class passengers; even those travelling in economy class can make use of the more legroom and expanded entertainment choices.
