The Nigerian Gaming Community (NGC), now called the Nexal Gaming Company (NGC), has announced the launch of eSports NG, its cutting-edge eSports website.

The company told the press that the launch was an exciting step that would change the African esports scene.

Nexal Gaming was founded in 2019 and has grown from a regional gaming community to a pan-African gaming powerhouse with over 100,000 players from all over the continent.

More than 33% of people in the world play video games. Video games are a big part of modern life, and Africa is no exception. They can be played on platforms, computers, cell phones, or even virtual reality. Nexal Gaming then entered the gaming and e-sports scene because it saw the need to use technology to create long-lasting e-sports environments where players could grow, work together, and do their best.

Nexal Gaming was created by a group of passionate gamers with one goal: to build an intense games scene in Nigeria. At first, it was called the Nigerian Gaming Community (NGC). The company rebranded strategically in 2023, becoming the Nexal Gaming Company (NGC), realizing it could reach more people.

According to Bakare Paul, Chief Technology Officer, the community’s steadfast dedication to its goals led to the creating of the new gaming platform, a revolutionary system meant to become Africa’s LinkedIn for gamers.

“Esports NG’s platform was created because gamers and gaming teams in Nigeria and Africa don’t have a place to show off their activities in the gaming scene publicly. This is a big problem because sponsorships and ads comprise more than 55% of Esports’ revenue streams.

Nexal Gaming has reached key milestones. At the ICAN and Bank of Industry Hackathon in May 2023, the gaming platform won for its unique approach to game technology and community building. It confirmed Nexal Gaming’s leadership in African esports.

Gaming communities like the Call of Duty Mobile Nigeria Community (60,000 Facebook members) and the FreeFire Nigeria Community (40,000) have grown under the organisation. These lively communities show the company’s ability to develop locations that connect and engage players.

African eSports

Electronic sports are a new area of gaming that adds a competitive edge. It is “one of the biggest and fastest-growing industries in the world.” Statista says that by 2025, eSports will be worth $1.8 billion.

Esports are very popular in Asia, Europe, and North America. However, the niche is growing in Africa, where regular local and regional events are held. Some games are first-person shooters (FPS), real-time strategy games, and group online battle arena games.

Several sources, such as ads, sponsorships, and ticket and merchandise sales, usually pay for prize money. A lot of the time, this prize is split between the winners of a race. The winners get the most money.

Digital sports are popular in Africa; 21 countries are members of the International Esports Federation (IESF).

It’s an important time for African esports that Nexal Gaming has gone from being a small local gaming group to a continental gaming powerhouse. An Instagram story from the company said the app should be available on the Play Store and the App Store in the first quarter of 2024.

It’s possible that this will change how gamers in the area connect, compete, and work together, with a focus on the social aspects of gaming, as their slogan “Where Social Meets Gaming” suggests.
