Airtel Money Malawi marks a milestone of 1000 Branches

Airtel Money Malawi has marked a milestone of opening 1000 branches for the Mobile Money arm of the telecommunication business. Airtel marked the milestone with the opening of a new branch at Bwandilo in Lilongwe.

The 1000 walk-in Airtel Money service centers, help customers run transactions, withdraw money, and even register their sim cards.

 

What Airtel Money Malawi Intends to Achieve

Speaking at the event, the Director of Airtel Money Malawi, Brighton Bandar, said the company is committed to providing innovative services for the people of Malawi.

“We have been expanding our branch network to reach more people in rural communities and empower more Malawians to send and receive money from wherever they are”
He added that “Apart from enabling customers to manage their money directly from their mobile phones, we have further enhanced the Airtel Money platform which now supports international money transfers to and from Malawi using additional partners that have been onboarded over recent years.

Apart from our 1,000 plus branches nationwide, we have also grown our agent network to over 70,000 agents, many of whom are first-time business owners. These agents have the opportunity of running the mobile money agent service alongside their businesses”.
Susan Tsonga, an Airtel money branch owner at Bwandilo in Lilongwe, said she is happy to be among the 1000 Airtel money branches across Malawi as being an Airtel money branch is a big business opportunity that has enabled her to employ a few people.

She also said “As a branch, we help Airtel money agents to load money in their accounts, we help individuals send and receive money and provide other Airtel related services. I am proud being one of Airtel Money’s branches as this provides an opportunity for me to employ some few individuals who help me run this branch”

With over five million customers on its network, Airtel Malawi is becoming the largest telecommunications service provider in the country.
