200 startups from Morocco will be showcased at the forthcoming GITEX Africa Morocco event, where Moroccan entrepreneurs will undoubtedly compete for the spotlight.
Under King Mohammed VI’s patronage, this event brings together tech giants and startup hopefuls to display cutting-edge innovations and forge innovative collaborations.
The Morocco Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and the Digital Development Agency (ADD) have joined forces on this project, which is called “GITEX AFRICA Morocco 200.”
Established in September 2017, the ADD is the driving force behind the state’s digital strategy. As part of this effort, we must promote the use of digital tools among citizens and put into action the state’s digital development strategy.

Participating Moroccan startups will have the chance to present their products and services to an international audience at this one-of-a-kind event happening in Marrakech from May 29th to the 31st.
The Ministry and the ADD said in a joint statement that this is a great chance for Moroccan startups to meet investors, share stories, and get advice on how to be innovative business owners.
Included in the all-inclusive support package for chosen startups are pre-event boot camps, introductions to possible investors, and specialised matchmaking services. They will be prepared to compete successfully on a global scale.
The 2024 GITEX Africa Morocco event was able to showcase twice as many startups as the 2023 event, further demonstrating the rising profile of Moroccan innovation.
Members of an assessment committee drawn from the public and private sectors of Morocco’s digital ecosystem will rigorously oversee the selection process. All startups must be Moroccan companies or be started by Moroccans living outside of Morocco.
Their projects should showcase originality, the ability to grow, and an obvious way to benefit others.
On April 8, 2024, applications must be submitted. The lucky few will have the opportunity to compete for a portion of $100,000 in prizes, as well as a heavily subsidized exhibition stand, coaching, and workshops.
Meeting with more than 1,800 exhibitors and investors will also provide them with the chance to network, which could lead to funding and partnerships.
A thriving startup ecosystem is something Morocco is really striving for, and GITEX Africa Morocco 200 is proof of that. A new wave of Moroccan innovators, inspired by this event, will likely emerge to shape the region’s technological landscape in the years to come.

Some of Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane’s (AUI) young entrepreneurs and startups presented their ground-breaking ideas in a variety of sectors at the GITEX Africa exhibition in Marrakech in late May and early June 2023.

During the event, Deborah Bartlett, the Chief Officer of Employability & Entrepreneurship at AUI, informed Morocco World News (MWN) that the university offers engineering programs that incorporate AI and “disruptive technologies.” She also mentioned a student-led incubator that encourages student entrepreneurs through peer-to-peer mentoring and highlighted two featured startups, Borsa and Annarabic, which use disruptive technologies.
In order to foster an entrepreneurial spirit among the members of Generation Z, who will one day head the nation’s most important industries, the university is collaborating with a wide range of innovators on healthcare and agricultural projects.
The GITEX Africa conference was a fantastic chance for tech-savvy Moroccan entrepreneurs to network with investors and other startup founders from across the continent.
