The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has announced a partnership between his administration and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) to educate young people in the state to become data protection officers.
He said this is consistent with his administration’s plan to increase employment opportunities for young people in order to reduce youth unemployment. This information was revealed by the governor following a Friday visit to the NDPC headquarters in Abuja by his deputy, Olayide Adelami.
He assured the people of Ondo state that their government is working to stabilize the economy and provide good governance by developing a number of tools to create jobs.

He claims that youth development is a top priority for the government and that teaching young people skills relevant to the modern workplace is one way to guarantee that they find meaningful employment. Because of this, the government has chosen information and communication technology (ICT) as a priority area to help young people gain the skills they need to compete on a global scale.
Recognizing the vast potential in data protection, he assured the NDPC team that his purpose in visiting was to forge a partnership that would allow them to educate thousands of recent college grads in Ondo State for this role.
The governor lauded the NDPC’s management and staff, headed by national commissioner Vincent Olatunji, for their unwavering dedication to protecting individuals’ privacy, noting that this aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The president has already opened up a tremendous avenue to create thousands of jobs for Nigerians through the signing into law of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, which the governor finds exciting. The law requires many organizations, both public and private, to employ data protection officers.
Data protection officers are in short supply in Nigeria; just 10,000 of the 500,000 open positions have been filled, according to pioneer national commissioner and NDPC CEO Vincent Olatunji, who briefed the delegation on the commission’s operations and partnership procedure.
Olatunji said that the governor’s vision is on display in the Ondo State government’s decision to launch the partnership. He stated that the governor of Ondo State was shown to have the correct team and vision by his decision to train the youths. Olatunji praised Adelami, a political player with exceptional humility and credibility, and congratulated him on his appointment as Ondo State’s deputy governor.
Ondo state empowers women.
Lucky Aiyedatiwa, governor of Ondo State, has promised women from all walks of life that they will have his full backing and equal representation in government so that they can help advance the state.
Aiyedatiwa, who has stated her intention to run for reelection as Ondo State governor in November 2024, was accompanied by the three women’s groups who came to rally behind her.
The deputy governor addressed the women and expressed gratitude for endorsing Aiyedatiwa. He warned them to be on the lookout for dubious candidates in the upcoming Ondo State election who are trying to pass themselves off as decent leaders.

Adelami assured them that the state government would support and empower them in various areas. He remarked that the governor’s cabinet appointments of women were a positive first step.
Among Aiyedatiwa’s initial group of nominees for the state executive council were women who would later serve as commissioners and special advisers to the cabinet. Not to mention the governor’s recent appointments of female special assistants and immediate aides.
As the women’s group leaders took turns pledging their allegiance to Governor Aiyedatiwa, the deputy governor kept his word and promised to pass the demands on to the governor.
