Oracle has confirmed that its advanced research arm, Oracle Labs, will get a new home in Casanearshore Park, Casablanca, Morocco, where 100 researchers will work.

Researchers at the new centre will use Oracle’s cloud, AI, and machine learning technologies to solve the most critical problems in business, science, and the government.

With its new state-of-the-art facility, the team will work with Morocco’s thriving technology sector to help find, explore, and transfer new technologies that can help Oracle’s customers’ businesses worldwide.

This effort will involve expanding internship and graduate recruitment programmes, conducting joint research with local universities, and collaborating with the local startup ecosystem so that it can participate in this global initiative.

Oracle Labs : More About Oracle Investment in Morocco

“Oracle’s investment in Morocco reflects the improved economic climate among signatories of the Abraham Accords,” a historic accord fostering peace and prosperity throughout the region. Oracle’s CEO, Safra Catz, stated that establishing a new research and development centre in Casablanca will allow Oracle to access a vast talent pool from across the region, benefit directly from the country’s recent economic ties with Israel, and offer cutting-edge technologies to customers worldwide.

We are thrilled that Oracle has chosen Morocco to expand its global R & D programme. This enables talented Moroccans to contribute to the development of cutting-edge technological solutions. Mohcine Jazouli, Morocco’s Minister Delegate for Investment, Convergence, and the Evaluation of Public Policies, hope the lab will be the first step in establishing Morocco as the centre of Oracle’s business in the region.

“Oracle Labs’ mission is to identify, investigate, and transfer new technologies that have the potential to help solve the world’s most pressing problems,” they said. Hassan Chafi, Oracle Labs’ Vice President of Research and Advanced Development

In addition to their exceptional technical expertise, most Moroccan engineers speak three languages and approach their work with an open mind and a creative spirit. This makes them ideal team members focusing on developing technology that will play a significant role in our global society’s rapid evolution.

The Work To Be Done At Oracle Labs Morocco

The new Oracle location will be a part of Oracle’s global network of R&D innovation. Researchers use cloud-based technologies and new approaches and methods to develop valuable solutions in these centres.

This work consists of research, consulting, and product incubation for most projects, involving university collaborations and interns from more than 50 universities.

Oracle will focus on automated machine learning and explainability, the PGX Parallel Graph Accelerator solution, and MySQL Heatwave ML at its new research and development centre in Morocco.
