Glo 1, the international submarine cable exclusively owned by the national telecommunications operator Globacom, has achieved eight years of uninterrupted connectivity, marking a noteworthy milestone.

Glo 1 unaffected by recent submarine outage

This came as the business bragged that it was unaffected by the recent underwater cable outage that impacted network providers in Nigeria and other nearby nations.

According to a firm statement, Glo 1 has been offering smooth internet connectivity since 2016. This guarantees that customers, whether personal or business, will always have high-speed access and uninterrupted service.

A statement released on Friday states, “Since its launch, Glo 1 has provided continuous connectivity for both individual and corporate customers, ensuring reliable internet access without any downtime.”

Glo 1 to provide better service delivery

“Glo 1 boosts capacity for enhanced service delivery” was the title of this announcement.

It said, “It will be remembered that Glo 1 remained unaffected throughout the period and was running as usual, even in March this year when most submarine cables in Nigeria and West Africa experienced cuts which caused widespread internet disruptions.”

Financial organisations, ISPs, and data users operating under Glo 1 continued their regular operations.

“Observers in the industry believed that the damage did not compromise the Glo 1 International Submarine Cable because of its durable and resilient construction.”

Glo 1 submarine cables renovated

According to a firm statement, the infrastructure of the Glo1 underwater fibre cable has also been renovated to guarantee optimal utilisation and improved service delivery.

The shortest latency, or the time it takes for data to move over a network, is found on Glo 1, which connects directly to London.

It ensures speedy and dependable internet access.

To guarantee a distinctive calling and browsing experience on the Glo network, the Glo 1 capacity boost “effectively compliments the ongoing technical expansions and upgrades of Glo network infrastructure.”

The facility emphasised that it provides customised services to address the requirements of different industries, such as manufacturing, oil and gas, government, education, and healthcare.

The corporation also stated that “teleconferencing, distance learning, disaster recovery, and telemedicine are just a few of the benefits the cable offers the African people.”
