Instagram New Feature

In the past, consumers were only able to view the products, and in order to purchase any of them, they had to visit the official website of the local company. Customers will be able to purchase the item through the newly added function without having to go to any other website to do so.

The photo-sharing platform that is owned by Meta will now allow users to directly text local businesses to inquire about the products they sell. Customers will be able to purchase an item immediately through direct messages after they have shortlisted it.

This new function addresses all aspects of the order-placing process, including order tracking, inquiries directed at merchants, shipping, and the efficient payment procedure.

Reports indicate that business accounts on Instagram that meet certain criteria will be able to access the feature that allows for payments to be made within messages. Additionally, the platform enables buyers and sellers to interact in real-time with one another.

The user will be asked to enter their payment information and shipping address, as well as review both of those fields.

How to Shop on Instagram

While browsing through Instagram, for instance, if you notice a particularly adorable pair of shoes, you can navigate to the profile of the associated company and send them a direct message (DM). You can even examine the possibility of customizing the shoes in some way, such as by having your name imprinted on them.

At long last, you can purchase the shoes by completing the payment request that was given to you earlier. The business also mentions that Meta Pay may be utilized to complete the transaction at hand.

Your purchases and the processing of payments are safeguarded by Meta Pay, which guarantees the safety of both processes. As the company has promised, you can anticipate further enhancements in the years to come.

“As we look toward the next chapter of the internet and the metaverse, we’re looking forward to giving people more access to tools like payments in chat that will make people’s lives easier.”

Other Updates From Instagram

A new update to Instagram has also added a searchable map to help users “discover popular local businesses near you,” as CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote in a Story. This will make it easier for Instagram users to find local businesses or attractions.

Also, there are more than one way to get to the map. For example, if a user taps on a location tag in a post or story and chooses “view location,” they can see the page for that location. By moving around on the map, they can check out the area and see what’s around.

Also on Explore page, users can search for places, even whole cities. If users tap on a location search result on the map, they can go to that location.

Users can apply filters to their search results after a location search to show only parks, restaurants, and other types of locations. Users can save places they want to go to in the future.

Observations

At this time, this feature is only accessible to customers and suppliers located in the United States. But it’s hoped that the service with being extended to other regions and also other platforms of its coverage.

Instagram helps people find and share what matters. According to a report, people also message their favorite businesses. Each week, 1 billion individuals message a business across our apps, whether they’re speaking with businesses, exploring items, or asking for support.

The company aims to let individuals start discussions with businesses they care about and buy things from the chat thread. Also, Meta will be introducing a new option to shop on Instagram while chatting.
