The Shoprite Group has unveiled GetPaid, a cutting-edge new platform that makes it easy for small company owners to send invoices and get paid at any time or location. This new development was announced on Tuesday.

GetPaid eliminates the need for smaller businesses to deal with the problems of lengthy wait times between service delivery and payment, as well as the additional costs of expensive card readers and extra hardware.

Small businesses can now create digital invoices, payment links, or unique scan-to-pay QR codes on their computer or phone, process bulk payments, and monitor cash flow through an intuitive dashboard thanks to the new GetPaid self-service platform, which leverages the Group’s well-established in-store payment technology backbone that allows big businesses to receive bill payments.

GetPaid options for users

Consumers can pay instantly with several options, including cards, Money Market Accounts, Snapscan, Zapper, and ScanToPay, or at any of the more than 29,000 till points in Shoprite, Checkers, or Usave stores nationwide. The latter option is particularly helpful for the large number of customers who still pay with cash against invoices.

“This is yet another step forward in our ongoing efforts to make financial products and services accessible and affordable to more customers through our extended Money Market offering,” said Jean Olivier, General Manager, Financial Services at the Shoprite Group.

“Whether you’re a contractor, freelancer, school administrator, or market stall owner, GetPaid is a game-changer for those seeking a fast, reliable, and cost-effective payment solution,” he added.

“We’ve partnered with Pay@, one of South Africa’s most trusted payment aggregators, to deliver a secure, scalable payment platform that simplifies the modern payment journey for small businesses and their customers,” Olivier stated.

How to use GetPaid

With GetPaid, getting started is easy. Companies can create customised invoices, generate QR codes, and send payment links by WhatsApp, email, or SMS after registering online at mymoneymarket.co.za/getpaid and completing a brief KYC/FICA process.

There aren’t any monthly or startup costs. Depending on the payment mode (online, in-app, or in-store), payment processing fees range from 2.85 percent to 3.50 percent, which makes the platform a versatile pay-as-you-use option.
