The PlayStation Network (PSN) is experiencing a major outage that began around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday. This has left countless gamers worldwide unable to access online services.

The outage impacts various services, including online gaming, account management, social features, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Video, and the PlayStation Direct website.

While offline gaming remains accessible, online components of popular games like Fortnite, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, and Marvel Rivals are unavailable.

Gamers express frustration

Social media platforms are flooded with complaints from users expressing their anger and frustration regarding the outage.

A London-based user, @Ramos on X, wrote, “PSN down during weekend night is criminal.”

Another user shared, “I get home after a 8 hour shift for psn to be down”. Many gamers cannot participate in online events, such as a Call of Duty promotional event that was set to provide XP in Ops and War.

Sony’s response and ongoing efforts

PlayStation acknowledged the issue on social media, stating, “We are aware some users might be currently experiencing issues with PSN”.

PlayStation Japan said they are investigating the issue and thanked customers for their patience. Sony’s PSN status page indicates that several services are currently facing challenges. The company has not yet provided an official explanation for the cause of the outage, but Sony has vowed to fix the outage as soon as possible.

DownDetector said the problem began just before midnight on Friday night, with more than 71,000 users reporting the site’s outage. The outage has been ongoing for over 15 hours. Some users report being able to access PSN, while others cannot log in.
