On Monday, Alkremeya, Libya’s first digital B2B e-commerce platform, launched, marking a significant milestone in the country’s grocery supply chain.

Founded in 2023 by Abdurrahman Ejdier and Fasih Ullah Ghafoor, the platform is headquartered in Tripoli and aims to connect retailers directly with importers and wholesalers. It provides real-time access to updated product listings and competitive prices.

By digitising the procurement process, Alkremeya eliminates the need for traditional manual negotiations and visits to multiple suppliers, making it easier and more efficient for retailers to stock their shelves.

How Alkremeya is transforming Libya’s grocery supply chain

Libya’s grocery market has long been plagued by fragmented supplier networks, labour-intensive procurement, and opaque pricing. Alkremeya tackles these challenges head-on by offering a digital platform that enhances transparency, reduces lead times, and lowers operational costs. Retailers can now browse product listings, compare prices, and place orders with just a few clicks, all through Alkremeya’s user-friendly mobile and web apps, available on iOS and Android.

Since its launch, the platform has gained over 5,000 downloads and served more than 500 merchants, many of whom now rely on it as their primary supply channel. By streamlining the supply chain, Alkremeya is helping retailers effectively manage inventory and respond to seasonal demand fluctuations, ultimately leading to better customer satisfaction and increased profitability.

Alkremeya’s expansion plans and future growth

Alkremeya isn’t just stopping at digitalising Libya’s grocery market. The startup has ambitious plans for regional expansion, aiming to enter Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Oman between 2025 and 2026. To support this growth, Alkremeya is investing in artificial intelligence and machine learning, which will refine its predictive analytics and operational capabilities, giving retailers even more insights into market trends and consumer behaviour.

The company is also focused on building strategic partnerships with local distributors, financial institutions, and technology providers to ensure a seamless expansion throughout North Africa and the broader MENA region. This forward-thinking approach not only modernises Libya’s grocery supply chain but also positions Alkremeya as a leader in the rapidly growing digital economy of the region.

As e-commerce continues to boom across Africa and the Middle East, Alkremeya is at the forefront of this digital transformation. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and maintaining a human-centric approach, the platform is poised to redefine the future of B2B commerce.
