The Flutterwave payment technology company and Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Youth Development have signed a deal to empower young people and enhance their business acumen, according to the Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande.
The event was attended by permanent secretary Olubunmi Olusanya and other high-ranking ministry officials.
The partners’ Memorandum of Understanding would result in the execution of important projects that will give young Nigerians access to business, mentorship, and training opportunities.

Flutterwave’s commitment to empower young people
Flutterwave is dedicated to creating sustainable solutions that will empower young people in Nigeria, according to Olugbenga Agboola, the company’s founder and chief executive officer.
In order to ensure long-term economic effect, he reaffirmed Flutterwave’s commitment to provide young people access to entrepreneurial possibilities, partner engagement, and training.
Olawande praised Flutterwave for its contribution to youth-focused projects during the signing, highlighting that this partnership is essential to realising President Bola Tinubu’s goal of youth empowerment.
He named two important ministry organisations that will be crucial to carrying out the program: the Citizenship & Leadership Training Centre and the National Youth Service Corps.
“This partnership directly contributes to achieving the President’s eight priority pillars by providing young entrepreneurs with the resources to scale their businesses.”
“Expanding access to training and mentorship programmes. Supporting youth-led businesses to drive innovation. Strengthening technical and leadership training. Leveraging technology to create sustainable employment opportunities and engaging youth through the NYSC and CLTC,” part of the statement read.
The minister ended by restating that the ministry’s efforts to guarantee a better future for Nigerian youth will be greatly bolstered by this partnership with Flutterwave, establishing them as important forces behind the country’s economic change.

Tinubu supports Flutterwave
Last month, President Bola Tinubu expressed his support for Flutterwave, a leading African fintech company, on a mission to get listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).
This development marks a crucial step for the company as it seeks to expand its presence in the Nigerian financial sector.
During a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Flutterwave’s CEO, Olugbenga Agboola, requested President Tinubu’s support for the company’s NGX listing.
Agboola highlighted Flutterwave’s role in simplifying payments for Nigerians using the naira and providing platforms for diaspora Nigerians to send money home. He emphasised that Flutterwave, valued at over $3 billion, employs over 1,000 Nigerians and is a prominent Nigerian export.
President Tinubu assured that his administration will continue to support businesses in the fintech sector, stating, “Nigeria is genuinely open to business, and as President, I am determined to remove all obstacles to allow companies to thrive”.
He commended Flutterwave’s contributions to the digital economy, particularly noting the role of young Nigerians in the company’s success.
