“Together, we are shaping the future of Lagos with innovative digital experiences that enhance tourism, city exploration, and seamless digital transactions,” it added.

Beacon of innovation and excellence

Speaking at the opening event on Thursday at MTN Plaza in Falomo, Ikoyi, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, characterised Lagos as a shining example of innovation and excellence.

According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, the launch marked a critical turning point in Lagos’s ambitions to become Africa’s preeminent smart metropolis.

He said that the app functions as a complete digital solution that provides easy access to necessary city services like utility payments, emergency services, real-time traffic reports, customised navigation, company listings, and tourism information.

He claimed that the MyLagos App fosters accountability and transparency by acting as a crucial conduit between citizens and the administration.

“Technology has evolved from being a luxury to a necessity. In our fast-paced world, effectively utilizing technology can significantly enhance governance, improve service delivery, and simplify the lives of every resident in this vibrant state,” he said.

“With the launch of the MyLagos App, Lagos State is poised to remain at the forefront of digital transformation, not just in Nigeria but across Africa,” he added.

The governor praised MTN, the Lagos State Government, and other important stakeholders for working together to achieve the goal.

He pointed out that the collaboration exemplifies how the public and private sectors can collaborate to achieve significant goals that would benefit the society.

He urged the populace to download MyLagos App and embrace the digital age.

“Together, we can shape a smarter future for our city. Let us remember that innovation is a continuous journey rather than a final destination,” Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasised.

MyLagosApp to improve quality of life

The “MyLagos App,” according to Mr. Abdulhakeem Giwa, Manager of MTN Digital Channel Management, is innovative.

According to Giwa, the MyLagos App was created to improve the quality of life and offer immediate solutions, revolutionizing the urban experience in Lagos.

“It ensures better and easier navigation for all residents,” he said.

He claims that the MyLagos App provides a one-stop resource for all of the necessary city information, such as the locations of businesses, markets, traffic updates, current news, tourism, events, jobs and vacancies, local markets, transportation orders, and businesses.
