Morocco is making business registration easier with the full rollout of its electronic business creation platform. Led by the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC), this initiative aims to simplify the process for entrepreneurs, eliminate bureaucratic hurdles, and enhance the country’s investment appeal.

Simplifying business registration across Morocco

After a pilot launch in Rabat in early 2023, the platform gradually expanded to major cities like Casablanca, Marrakesh, Agadir, Tangier, Fez, Oujda, Laayoune, Beni Mellal, and Dakhla. Now available nationwide, it allows entrepreneurs to register businesses online without the hassle of physical paperwork.

This digital system integrates multiple government agencies, including OMPIC, the Ministry of Justice, the General Secretariat of the Government, the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI), and other necessary agencies. Morocco removes administrative hurdles by centralising the process and speeds up business registration.

Boosting entrepreneurship and attracting investment

Since its launch, the platform has helped establish over 12,000 businesses and onboarded more than 2,400 professionals, including notaries, accountants, and legal experts. By digitising procedures, Morocco aims to create a more business-friendly environment and attract both local and foreign investors.

This initiative aligns with Morocco’s broader economic strategy, which includes fostering entrepreneurship and expanding the digital economy. The country is targeting the creation of 3,000 startups by 2030, supported by a MAD 11 billion investment to train 100,000 digital professionals annually and generate 240,000 new jobs.

Legal reforms strengthening Morocco’s digital business ecosystem

To reinforce this transformation, Morocco has introduced new laws governing business registration, electronic commerce, and digital security. These reforms ensure a transparent, secure, and efficient system for entrepreneurs looking to launch and grow their ventures.

With Morocco embracing digitalisation, this platform represents a major step toward modernising the economy and enhancing its global competitiveness.
