Morocco’s growing influence in global AI development

Morocco has been gaining international recognition for its proactive role in AI governance and digital policy. In 2024, the country co-sponsored the first-ever UN resolution on AI, alongside the United States, emphasising the importance of responsible AI adoption for sustainable development.

This was followed by the establishment of the Group of Friends on Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development at the UN, a joint initiative led by Morocco and the U.S. This platform aims to foster global AI cooperation, particularly in supporting developing countries in leveraging AI for growth.

As Morocco continues to expand its digital capabilities and strengthen international partnerships, its collaboration with the United States is set to play a crucial role in shaping the future of AI and digital transformation in the region
