A new tool called Flex Policies has been unveiled by Apple device management business Addigy, which is further news from the ever-effervescent Apple in the enterprise market.

Remote, automated, and easier policy implementation

The solution is intended to greatly simplify the application of policies across an organization’s fleet of Apple devices. When attempting to apply policies at the device level, what frequently occurs is that IT must do so manually. With iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura, this should become simpler, but it’s still a time-consuming task for IT.

Flex, according to Addigy, will free up IT administrators’ time by doing away with the time-consuming process of manually assigning Apple device policies to new or existing devices.

How Addigy puts it

According to Addigy CEO Jason Dettbarn, “Flex Policies is a game-changer for not only IT administrators handling Apple devices but for the industry.” “We’re de-stigmatizing Apple devices at work by making it simpler for IT teams to onboard them. The utilization of Apple products in the office is anticipated to increase over the coming years, so everything our organization can do to help IT administrators and MSPs manage these devices would benefit everyone.”

IT administrators are supposed to be able to create policy directives that can be deployed to devices using Addigy’s Flex. They can be used to set up a device’s attributes in response to various criteria and then be automatically assigned, ensuring that the device complies with the necessary rules.

The beauty of this is that a device can be assigned to numerous policies at once, thus allowing businesses to make adjustments remotely as circumstances surrounding the device change.

Management can be customised

IT administrators can also block specific workstations or groups. This enables the intelligent installation of a crucial system update. Therefore, you can deliver a crucial system update to every team member while excluding the machines you know are currently used in mission-critical scenarios. When the CEO tries to use their iPhone to show data at a crucial investors meeting, they would not appreciate you updating it.

Flex also allows IT to automate device monitoring and remote remediation, according to Addigy. For instance, administrators can create a Flex Policy that will recognize a device with FileVault turned off and subsequently enable that capability to safeguard data.

The program may also be used to deploy advanced conditional software, assign items to all devices across rules, assign user group-based policies, create custom reports, create small test groups of devices, and migrate settings. The tool is compatible with the company’s other products as well.

PSG Growth Equity recently invested Addigy. With the rising adoption of Macs, iPhones, and iPads in the workplace, this investment underlines the ongoing opportunity emerging in this area of the Apple ecosystem.

A fascinating area is Apple in the workplace.

Over the last two years, the use of Mac laptops in the office has increased by 63%, and more than half of IT teams report an increase in the demand for Apple products in their organizations.

It is obvious that Apple is aware of the expanding significance of the enterprise market. Open reach, one of the largest companies in the UK, recently witnessed a massive 30,000-strong iPhone deployment, and it continues to upgrade its own SMB-focused Apple Business Essentials offering and the APIs it provides for the expanding market of MDM suppliers.

Additionally, the business and T-Mobile recently reached an agreement allowing the latter to provide Business Essentials to US SMBs.

Nothing will slow down. In addition to launching new iPhones and other products on September 7, Apple will also hold the world’s largest Apple admin conference, the Jamf Nation User Conference (JNUC), on September 27. This event is sure to feature some intriguing announcements.

Nobody should doubt Apple’s continued enterprise growth story, the market’s expansion, or the likelihood that it will overtake all other vendors in the years to come.
