Basata Holding for Financial Payments, a leading Egyptian fintech company, launched the Basata Card, a new digital payment solution designed to streamline financial transactions across Egypt. The initiative, announced on April 10, is a collaboration between Basata Holding and Connect Money.

Basata Card enhances digital payments in Egypt

The Basata Card seeks to help Egypt shift to a cashless digital society by offering flexible and safe financial solutions to individual customers and businesses.

Karim Shehata, CEO of Basata Holding, emphasised, “By offering innovative solutions that empower both merchants and consumers, we remain committed to developing a more integrated and user-friendly payments ecosystem that accelerates digital transformation and enhances transaction efficiency across the Egyptian market.”

The card allows users to withdraw cash from any ATM in Egypt and make secure purchases online or in-store. It also supports instant money transfers between cardholders, facilitating seamless financial transactions. For added security, users can immediately deactivate their cards in case of loss or theft, protecting their funds from unauthorized use.

Basata’s strategy involves expanding its portfolio of digital financial solutions and improving user financial experiences. The company offers over 2,000 financial services through its network of more than 150,000 active points of sale and digital wallets across Egypt.

Basata card expands financial inclusion

The Basata Card, obtained with a national ID, is part of a more considerable effort to increase financial inclusion in Egypt and does not require a regular bank account.

This feature is particularly beneficial for those who may not have access to conventional banking services. It supports merchants by streamlining payment processes and financial management.

Karim Shehata highlighted that the Basata Card reflects the company’s mission to create a more streamlined and accessible digital payment environment.

“We are committed to innovation that benefits both consumers and businesses, driving financial inclusion and supporting Egypt’s digital transformation,” he noted. The card is available at all Basata branches nationwide, further expanding the reach of digital payment solutions across Egypt.
