Heroshe’s shipping failures lead to arrests of innocent business owners

At least two Nigerian business owners have been arrested after Heroshe, a shipping company that transports goods from the U.S., UK and China, failed to deliver items months after payment, leaving entrepreneurs to take the fall for missing goods.

“Avoid this company at all costs  – worst experience ever,” Rasheed Fadairo wrote in a Google review of Heroshe shipping company in February. Her comment echoed hundreds of other scathing complaints across multiple social media platforms including X and Instagram from users who had not received their orders months after making payment.

HeroShe has faced a deluge of complaints from disgruntled customers who accuse the company of failing to deliver their items. Some delays, Techpression learnt, have stretched between four to six months.

While Heroshe claims to make international deliveries “a breeze” on its website within a seven to 10 day window or a maximum of 15 days, the reality of the majority of customers tell a different story.

Angry customers have resorted to arresting middlemen and business owners over undelivered items.

Pleas that Heroshe company was to blame for the delay were often dismissed and sometimes, the entrepreneurs got picked up by local police for allegedly scamming customers.

This was the case of Simion Hellah, a Nigerian digital media strategist, who made a shipping order on Heroshe on November 15, 2024 but had not received his goods as of April 13, 2025.

Mr Hellah said he had been arrested twice by the owner of the items within a period of six months due to Heroshe’s failure to deliver the items.

“I have been arrested twice by the owner of the goods, cos he thought I was lying or I spent his money,” Mr Hellah wrote in a pinned post on X February 21. “Please Heroshe is no longer a reliable shipping company.”

He went to Heroshe office in Lagos, Nigeria, to lodge his complaints but even then, his visit yielded no positive outcome.

Aguneche Ibe shared a similar experience on X.

“I have 5 different items with these rogues, paid them since November last year. How possible is it to sue these guys in the US? I will pay the legal fees,” he tweeted on February 24.

But this wasn’t always the case.

Once trusted, now troubled

Founded in 2012 by Osinachi Ukomadu, Heroshe initially gained traction for prompt delivery and swift resolution of customer complaints, according to earlier Google reviews.

But checks by Techpression revealed that negative reviews began to spike in 2024. The usual Heroshe follow-up message that acknowledged complaints no longer appeared. Customers were left to rant on Google reviews without any explanation.

Heroshe contact desk did not immediately return comments to clarify why orders were being held for months and why follow-up texts stopped popping up on unflattering Google reviews.

Conflicting reviews: Heroshe website reviews contradict Google reviews

Any user who logs into Heroshe website directly will not smell a rat as the freight company did well in burnishing the brand’s reputation with glowing reviews.

One of such reviews is from Crev Naturals who wrote “Over the years, our company has trusted Heroshe to get our products safely into the hands of our international customers. We will continue to trust them for as long as time permits. Thanks, Heroshe, for always delivering great service.”

Another website review by Azeez Ninilowo said that “Heroshe Company is one of the best. I’ve shipped various appliances with then ranging from laptops to play stations and portable speakers and I don’t have a single problem with them. I love the shipping company and will continue using their service.”

But a quick Instagram scan of comments on Heroshe’s last post in January showed over 200 negative comments calling out the shipping company on poor service and unfulfilled orders.

@tochi.co wrote: “Guys, please you cannot keep my package in a hostage situation. My package since December for over 4 months has not left the USA, as how now.”

@p.h.a.v.v.y wrote “I paid for air shipping since January and now its March. I’ve not got it. That’s extremely wicked and inconsiderate of you.”

Heroshe Google Review section was littered with insults from aggrieved customers.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS – WORST SHIPPING EXPERIENCE EVER!” Ms Fadairo wrote in caps in a Google review.

“If I could give this company zero stars, I absolutely would. They do not deserve even a single star. I paid for air freight shipping on December 20, 2024, and to this day, my items are still sitting in their warehouse!”

“I have attached proof showing exactly how long my items have been stuck with them. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR LIES, THIS IS THE WORST SHIPPING COMPANY YOU COULD EVER USE!,” Ms Fadairo wrote in February 2024.

Another user, Quadri Awokoya had scathing words for Heroshe.

“This is the worst, most dishonest, and least effective shipping organisation I have ever encountered. My package has been with them since January 10th, and it still hasn’t been delivered,” she wrote in a Google review  in April.

Google user Michael wrote “Shipping with Heroshe has been nothing but a nightmare. The first time, I thought it was an oversight and gave them another chance. The second time? It turned out to be the regret of my life.”

According to tech expert Smart James, the disparity between Heroshe’s website and external review platforms points to selective curation.

It seemed Heroshe cherrypicked comments that cast the company in good light, leaving out negative reviews that could discourage prospective customers.

He advised consumers to rely more on independent review platforms than the testimonials posted directly on company websites.

“Companies can use robots to create good reviews about products and service on their website but real people are the ones who give Google reviews,” Mr James said.

He explained that companies cannot control the reviews published on Google or other shopping websites like Amazon, Jumia, Konga, Temu and so on.

Heroshe’s statement on shipping delays

“We are currently experiencing processing and shipping delays across all our warehouses (U.S., UK and China),” Heroshe said in a post in January.

The freight company said it was “working tirelessly to resolve” delays and “restore smooth shipping operations as soon as quicly as possible.”
