Alliance Pharma launched a mobile application in Burkina Faso on May 1, to assist patients in rapidly locating medications in pharmacies experiencing frequent stock shortages.

The app, developed by Burkinabe company Nonga Sarl and led by pharmacist Kaleb Kapioko since 2021, allows users to search a regularly updated database of partner pharmacies for specific drugs by name or active ingredient.

Drug availability, pharmacy names, locations, and contact information are updated in real-time, eliminating unnecessary travel.

The app is available on iOS and Android platforms and has been downloaded over 10,000 times. Users create accounts to access the database and benefit from geolocation features that pinpoint nearby pharmacies stocking the needed medication.

Users can rapidly confirm availability with pharmacies via an integrated messaging system. Nonga Sarl wants to extend its pharmacy network, including online ordering and home delivery, to improve drug access.

Alliance Pharma: safer, traceable drugs for Burkina Faso

In Burkina Faso, where fake medications are still a major problem, Alliance Pharma helps improve pharmaceutical safety, traceability, and convenience.

The technology facilitates improved administration of pharmaceutical supplies and helps guarantee that patients obtain authentic medications by establishing digital connections between patients, pharmacies, and health organisations.

The software also offers solutions for health groups and businesses to handle employee healthcare needs more efficiently. This digital solution modernises Burkina Faso’s healthcare system by addressing drug shortages and improving public health.

Alliance Pharma’s app’s debut represents a growing digital transformation trend in African healthcare, giving practical solutions customised to local concerns.
