IoT West Africa 2025, held at the Landmark Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, served as a dynamic platform for global brands, policymakers, and technology innovators to explore the transformative potential of the Internet of Things (IoT) and renewable energy solutions.

The event highlighted cutting-edge technologies aimed at addressing West Africa’s energy and connectivity challenges, with a particular focus on sustainable power solutions.

Featuring exhibitions, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, the event drew participants from around the world, showcasing advancements in solar energy, energy storage systems (ESS), and IoT applications. Below is an overview of the event and key brands that stood out for their innovative contributions:

A hub for technological advancement

IoT West Africa 2025 brought together industry leaders to discuss IoT applications in sectors like energy, agriculture, and healthcare, with a strong emphasis on renewable energy solutions for Nigeria’s growing energy demands.

Nigeria’s power demand is projected to reach 15GW by 2025, and the government aims to achieve 23 percent of the energy mix from renewable sources by the same year. The event provided a stage for global and local companies to present solutions tailored to these ambitious targets, addressing challenges like unreliable grid infrastructure and rural electrification.

OneSun technology limited: Leading in energy storage systems

OneSun Technology (Shenzhen) Ltd., a Chinese manufacturer, showcased its expertise in Energy Storage Systems (ESS), which integrate solar panels, batteries, and inverters to store and manage energy efficiently.

OneSun’s all-in-one ESS solutions, including solar storage inverters, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic panels, are designed for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

Leveraging automotive-grade Battery Management System (BMS) technology, OneSun ensures high performance and safety, with components sourced from top brands like Infineon and Toshiba.

Having recently participated in the Nigeria Powerelec Exhibition in January 2025, OneSun used IoT West Africa to further demonstrate its commitment to West Africa’s energy market. Their systems address the region’s grid challenges by offering scalable, cost-effective solutions for off-grid and hybrid applications, making them a significant player in Nigeria’s renewable energy transition.

Simba Group: A platinum sponsor driving innovation

Simba Group, a leading name in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector, was a platinum sponsor of IoT West Africa 2025. Their portfolio includes brands like Simba Solar, K-Star, and Genus, each offering advanced energy solutions such as solar panels, inverters, and battery systems.

Simba’s sponsorship highlighted their role in promoting sustainable energy adoption across West Africa. Their products are designed for reliability and performance, catering to both residential and commercial users, and align with Nigeria’s renewable energy goals.

The Simba booth attracted significant attention, showcasing their commitment to quality and after-sales support. Their presence underscored the importance of robust partnerships in scaling renewable energy solutions to meet the region’s growing electricity needs.

ADEX solar energy: Tailored solutions for Nigeria

ADEX solar energy, a Nigerian company, presented innovative solar solutions designed to address local energy challenges. Specializing in solar panels, inverters, and energy storage systems, ADEX focuses on affordability and efficiency for both urban and rural settings. Their products support Nigeria’s push for decentralized energy solutions, offering scalable systems that cater to diverse needs, from small households to larger commercial installations. ADEX’s participation emphasized the critical role of local companies in advancing Nigeria’s renewable energy sector.

JCNS new energy technology: Affordable home solar power

JCNS New Energy Technology drew crowds with an attractive promotion on home solar power systems. Their offer included a 5.5kW inverter, a 10kWh battery, and ten 500W monocrystalline solar panels for 3.59 million naira.

This system can power essential household appliances, including lights, fans, TVs, home theater systems, a 1.5HP air conditioner (or a 3HP inverter AC), a 300W refrigerator, a washing machine, and a blender. The affordability and comprehensive coverage of this package made it a standout, appealing to households seeking reliable, grid-independent power solutions.

JCNS specialises in solar panels, solar lighting systems, and generators, focusing on accessible solutions for Nigerian consumers. Their promotion at IoT West Africa 2025 highlighted their commitment to breaking down financial barriers to renewable energy adoption, aligning with the event’s goal of fostering sustainable energy access.

Shaping a sustainable future

IoT West Africa 2025 was a testament to the power of innovation and collaboration in addressing Africa’s energy challenges. The synergy between IoT and renewable energy solutions was evident, with brands like OneSun, Simba, ADEX, and JCNS showcasing technologies that promise to transform Nigeria’s energy landscape. From advanced ESS to affordable home solar systems, these companies are addressing critical needs like grid reliability, rural electrification, and sustainable development.

The event also highlighted the importance of tailored solutions, such as Pay-As-You-Go (PAYGo) models and scalable systems, to meet the diverse needs of Nigerian consumers. With Nigeria’s government pushing for universal energy access by 2030, IoT West Africa 2025 served as a critical platform for forging partnerships and driving investment in the renewable energy sector.

IoT West Africa 2025 has set a strong foundation for a sustainable energy future, paving the way for a brighter, more connected West Africa.
