MTN Group has emerged as he Most Admired Brand in Africa, topping the 2025 Brand Africa rankings. The telecom company was also inducted into the inaugural Brand Africa Hall of Fame in recognition of its decade-long commitment to innovation, digital inclusion, and driving positive change across the continent.
The company announced this milestone in a statement released on Saturday.
MTN also earned several top honours: #1 Most Admired African Brand Contributing to a Better Africa, #1 Most Admired African Brand (spontaneous recall), #1 Most Admired Brand Doing Good for Environment and Society, and #1 Most Admired Telecommunications Brand.
Brand Africa launched the Hall of Fame Award this year to recognise companies that have consistently excelled and made a significant impact on the continent over the past decade.
MTN’s induction reflects its ongoing commitment to expanding digital access, increasing financial inclusion, and driving Africa’s development.
This announcement coincides with the release of the 2025 Brand Africa 100 rankings, an independent annual survey covering over 30 African countries and representing more than 85 percent of the continent’s GDP and population.
MTN CEO expresses enthusiasm
“It is an honour to be inducted into the Brand Africa Hall of Fame and to be named the most admired African brand contributing to a better Africa, the most admired African brand by spontaneous recall, as well as the brand most admired for doing good for society and the environment,” said Ralph Mupita, MTN Group President and CEO.
“That this recognition comes during Africa Month gives it added significance. It reflects the progress we continue to make as a continent and the role trusted brands must play in advancing inclusive, digitally enabled growth. We are grateful for the confidence placed in MTN by the people we serve and remain committed to delivering meaningful impact.”
Mupita also praised its customers, partners, and other stakeholders throughout the continent for their contributions to the brand’s success, highlighting the teamwork that made it possible.
MTN runs mobile networks in sixteen countries. The company’s Ambition 2025 strategic intent—to lead digital solutions for Africa’s progress—has served as its compass since 2021. This demonstrates MTN’s dedication to promoting innovation and financial and digital inclusion throughout the continent.
MTN was recently ranked as the most valuable brand in South Africa, further confirming its position as the industry leader. The 2025 Brand Finance Top 100 Report, which gave MTN a brand valuation of R50.7 billion, recognised the company. Since the survey’s inception in 2012, MTN has maintained this position annually.
