Tier 5 Technologies, a leading provider of cloud services and enterprise IT solutions in West Africa, announced on Tuesday a strategic partnership with MongoDB, a global leader in modern database technology.
The collaboration aims to support growth across the West African market, with a focus on Nigeria.
The partnership was unveiled during a joint “Legacy Modernisation Day” event held in Lagos.
Tier 5-MongoDB partnership’s main objective
The primary goal of the partnership is to help organisations across the region upgrade outdated infrastructure and harness the power of artificial intelligence.
Together, Tier 5 Technologies and MongoDB aim to position both businesses at the forefront of Africa’s digital economy, projected to reach a value of $100 billion.
Over 50,000 clients and millions of developers worldwide—including 70 percent of Fortune 100 companies—are powered by MongoDB’s technology.
According to Anders Fabry, MongoDB’s regional director for the Middle East and Africa, the partnership is a significant turning point in the business’s regional strategy.
“Partnering with Tier 5 Technologies is a pivotal step in deepening our presence in Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa and a key economic engine for the continent,” he said.
“Tier 5 Technologies brings a proven track record, a strong local network, and a clear commitment to MongoDB as their preferred data platform. They have already demonstrated their dedication by hiring MongoDB-focused sales specialists, connecting us with top-level executives, and closing our first enterprise deals in Nigeria in record time. We are excited about the impact we can make together in this strategic market.”
MongoDB’s offerings
MongoDB offers a fully managed suite of cloud databases and data services that are accessible through Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
Among its products are MongoDB Enterprise Advanced and MongoDB Atlas.
The African market, where cloud usage is growing, and traditional IT infrastructure frequently poses difficulties, is a good fit for MongoDB Atlas.
The platform enables developers to create scalable, low-latency applications without being limited by outdated technologies.
Afolabi Bolaji, Director of Sales at Tier 5 Technologies, called the collaboration revolutionary and strategic.
“This is not just a reseller deal,” he said. “We have made significant investments in MongoDB because we believe it will underpin the next generation of African innovation. Many of our customers, from nimble fintechs to established banks, already rely on it. Now, they will have access to enterprise-grade features, local support, and global expertise.”
Tier 5-MongoDB partnership reflects larger change in global tech scene
The collaboration is also indicative of a larger change in the global tech scene, as tech companies increasingly see Africa as a source of talent, innovation, and enterprise demand in addition to a consumer market.
The partnership has the potential for long-term effects, given the growing demands in fields such as artificial intelligence, banking, logistics, and educational technologies.
By fusing Tier 5 Technologies’ local knowledge with MongoDB’s global capabilities, the companies want to help African businesses create scalable, future-ready digital solutions and hasten the continent’s digital transition.
