Meta announced a partnership with Luxottica subsidiary Oakley to launch the Oakley Meta HSTN smart spectacles for athletes and active users on June 20, 2025. These glasses represent a leap forward in wearable AI technology, combining Oakley’s sports-focused design with Meta’s advanced AI and video capabilities.

Enhanced battery life and video quality for active use

The Oakley Meta HSTN glasses deliver up to eight hours of continuous use, doubling the battery life of the previous Meta Ray-Ban models, and come with a charging case that extends total usage to 48 hours. Fast charging is supported, providing 50 per cent battery in just 20 minutes.

Video recording is upgraded to 3K resolution, offering more precise and detailed footage than the 1080p on earlier models. The glasses feature a 12MP ultra-wide camera and an LED indicator to signal recording, catering to hands-free video capture during sports and outdoor activities.

Designed for performance with AI integration

Inspired by Oakley’s HSTN frame, the glasses are rugged and water-resistant with an IPX4 rating, suitable for demanding environments. Integrated open-ear speakers provide immersive audio without blocking ambient sounds, which is ideal for athletes needing situational awareness.

The glasses include Meta AI, allowing users to control functions and get real-time answers via voice commands, such as weather updates or performance tips. Meta positions these glasses as “performance AI” tools to enhance athletic experiences on and off the field.

Preorders for the limited-edition Oakley Meta HSTN start July 11 at $499 in select countries, including the US, Canada, UK, and Australia. The broader collection will launch later this summer at $399.

The collection offers six frame and lens color options, all compatible with prescription lenses, and will expand to markets like Mexico, India, and the UAE in 2025.

This launch marks Meta’s first expansion beyond Ray-Ban for smart glasses, aiming to solidify its lead in the AI eyewear market with a product tailored for athletes who demand durability, advanced tech, and style.
