Samsung said on Wednesday that it is getting ready to introduce its newest foldable devices and enhance Galaxy AI capabilities during the Galaxy Unpacked event in Brooklyn, New York, on July 9. The event promises a showcase of “Ultra-experience” devices, blending cutting-edge hardware with AI-powered tools to redefine mobile interaction.

Next-gen foldables: Thinner, smarter, and more portable

Samsung is expected to reveal the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, along with a possible high-end Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra model. These foldables will be the thinnest and lightest in the series, with the Fold 7 measuring just 3.9mm when open and 8.9mm closed, making it 24 grams lighter than its predecessor. The Z Flip 7 may feature a larger 4-inch outer screen and a 6.85-inch main display, improving usability and access to widgets.

Camera technology is a key focus, with rumors suggesting a 200MP primary sensor on the Fold 7 and AI-enhanced photography tools that help users capture moments more vividly. Samsung’s teasers highlight a powerful camera system combined with AI to make everyday experiences more seamless and personal. The foldables will likely continue Samsung’s trend of ultra-slim designs inspired by the Galaxy S25 Edge.

Galaxy AI: Transforming smartphones into smart companions

Samsung is pushing Galaxy AI as the new device interface, moving beyond a simple collection of apps to a system that anticipates user needs in real time. The company describes this shift as evolving smartphones from reactive tools into anticipatory smart companions that transform communication, creation, and connection.

The AI enhancements will improve photography and extend across Samsung’s ecosystem, including upcoming wearables. Samsung’s President Roh Tae-moon emphasized that Galaxy AI features are just beginning to roll out, with plans to expand AI capabilities across devices and health experiences. This integration aims to make devices smarter and more intuitive, leveraging collaborations with industry-leading AI partners.

The July 9 Unpacked event will be live-streamed on Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom, and YouTube starting at 10 a.m. ET. ET will offer a first look at these innovations. Samsung also encourages early reservations with incentives like a $50 Samsung Credit for pre-orders.

Samsung’s upcoming foldables and Galaxy AI updates reflect a bold step toward more innovative, more versatile mobile technology, combining sleek design with intelligent software to enhance everyday life.
