Egypt-based digital logistics startup Nowlun announced on Tuesday that it has secured an additional $600,000 in funding, closing its seed round at $2.3 million. This extension was led by Ingressive Capital, a prominent African venture capital firm, and builds on an earlier $1.7 million seed round led by Nama Ventures and A15.
Nowlun’s AI-driven logistics platform gains momentum
Founded in 2021 by Moataz Khamis, Mahmoud Khaled, and Ahmed Emara, Nowlun simplifies global freight forwarding across the MENA region by helping businesses move full container loads (FCL) and bulk cargo efficiently. The platform offers real-time tracking, instant updates, and price comparisons, making freight forwarding faster and more transparent in a traditionally manual sector.
With the new capital, Nowlun plans to accelerate the development of its AI-powered Smart Logistics Assistant. This tool will provide ocean freight shippers with instant insights and recommendations, helping them make smarter, faster shipping decisions while reducing costs. CEO Moataz Khamis emphasised, “We’re building your smart Logistics Assistant—a tool that puts decades of industry expertise in the palm of your hand.”
The company also expands operations in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, two strategic markets for global trade routes. The funding will enable Nowlun to handle more shipments more efficiently by embedding AI across all logistics operations.
Strategic investment highlights growing African VC role
Ingressive Capital’s participation underscores the increasing influence of African venture capital in Egypt’s startup ecosystem and the broader logistics sector. Maya Horgan Famodu, Founding Partner at Ingressive Capital, stated, “Nowlun is not only modernising freight; they’re reimagining how trade moves across continents with speed, transparency, and precision.” She added that the firm is proud to support Nowlun as it builds a category-defining platform for the MENA region and beyond.
Moataz Khamis also highlighted the convergence of logistics needs across Africa and MENA, noting that “our platform is built to meet those shared needs, with the flexibility to adapt to local dynamics.” The partnership with Ingressive Capital opens doors to deeper regional insights and strategic networks across sub-Saharan Africa, aligning with Nowlun’s vision to expand beyond MENA.
With AI now the backbone of freight logistics, Nowlun’s approach combines automation, predictive shipment planning, and intelligent customer support to transform a sector still dominated by manual processes. Khamis remarked, “AI is no longer a luxury in freight, it’s the new backbone.”
This $2.3 million seed round positions Nowlun to scale its technology and market presence. It aims to make global trade smarter, faster, and more reliable across MENA and Africa.
