Gabon now offers a free, fully digital tourist e-visa processed within 48 hours to international travellers visiting between July 1 and September 30, 2025.

Announced by the Ministry of Sustainable Tourism and the Ministry of Interior, this fast-track visa system is part of the second edition of the “Caravane Touristique,” scheduled from July 15 to September 15, 2025.

The initiative aims to attract more foreign visitors, showcase Gabon’s natural beauty, and modernise border entry procedures.

The move reflects Gabon’s broader goal to enhance its global tourism appeal through simplified and secure digital services.

How Gabon’s free tourist e-Visa works

The e-Visa platform is accessible at edgdi.dgdi.ga and is managed by the Directorate General of Documentation and Immigration (DGDI).

Tourists applying within the promotional window can get their visas at no cost, with processing completed in under 48 hours.

Applicants must first create an account and upload their passport details and a passport-sized photo. After logging in, they complete the visa form and select an approved host, which could be a hotel, tour operator, or individual—already registered on the platform. Once the application is submitted, the selected host must confirm and validate it for processing.

According to Interior Minister Hermann Immongault, this simple, fast, and 100 percent online procedure is a step toward securing visitor flows and improving administrative transparency. It also reduces bureaucracy for both tourists and local operators during Gabon’s busiest travel season.

Gabon’s Caravane Touristique and long-term tourism goals

The e-Visa promotion aligns with the 2025 edition of the Caravane Touristique, a nationwide campaign showcasing Gabon’s parks, cultural landmarks, and hospitality sector.

Tourism Minister Pascal Ogowe Siffon described the campaign as key to building Gabon’s identity as a sustainable, eco-friendly destination.

The government has outlined three primary goals for the visa initiative: simplifying tourist arrivals, securing border flows, and promoting national heritage.

Registered hotels, tour guides, and hosts are urged to sign up early on the DGDI portal to ensure seamless processing and coordination.

Outside the promotional period, travellers can still apply for other types of visas—such as for business, long-term tourism, or family visits—through Gabon’s permanent portal at evisa.dgdi.ga, which currently only applies to arrivals via Libreville’s Léon Mba International Airport.

A seamless, secure gateway to explore Gabon

Gabon’s temporary free e-Visa program is more than a promotional tool—it’s a move toward modern governance and a more inclusive tourism economy. By removing financial and procedural barriers, Gabon is making itself more accessible to global tourists and signalling readiness for a digital-first travel future.

With lush landscapes, diverse wildlife, and a rich cultural scene, Gabon now stands just a few clicks away for anyone dreaming of an unforgettable Central African adventure.
