MTN Business and Cloudflare, Inc., the industry leader in connectivity cloud services, announced on Monday expanded their partnership to provide South African businesses with a comprehensive suite of managed cybersecurity services, including Zero Trust and application protection to tackle rising digital threats across the region.

MTN Business is the first Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) in South Africa to offer Cloudflare’s cutting-edge Zero Trust cybersecurity solutions.  Through the partnership, Cloudflare’s global infrastructure and cybersecurity suite of solutions are combined with MTN’s regional connectivity expertise to offer businesses in South Africa a full suite of managed business solutions.

Why MTN-Cloudflare partnership

South African businesses are facing challenges from a dynamic threat landscape and hybrid work complexities.  Millions of cyberattacks are thwarted daily in Africa by Cloudflare’s security measures in the first quarter of 2025, spanning numerous industries.

Companies in every industry must always protect their digital operations with a full suite of solutions because the threat landscape is changing so quickly.

Cloudflare’s Application Services speed up and protect web apps, but Cloudflare One Zero Trust services also check access and secure connectivity to safeguard workers at every turn.

MTN and Cloudflare are now collaborating to empower businesses in the area by expanding Cloudflare’s managed services portfolio to collaborate with businesses of all kinds.

Businesses shouldn’t have to rely on their own technical know-how to operate and maintain a safe, effective operation as cyber threats grow in complexity and scale.

Cloudflare and MTN recognise that companies across the country are seeking a comprehensive solution.  Organisations of any size now have access to scalable security solutions that meet their unique requirements, regardless of their size.

By leveraging Cloudflare’s cloud connectivity and industry-leading security, MTN Business will provide services at scale, opening up managed services to a wider market.  Based on a composite organisation representative of interviewed Cloudflare customers, a Forrester Consulting Total Economic ImpactTM study commissioned by Cloudflare revealed that widespread use of the platform resulted in a 238 per cent return on investment over a three-year period.

David Behr, Executive for MTN ICT Converged Solutions, stated, “We are thrilled to be the first Cloudflare MSSP partner in South Africa. This collaboration enables us to bring best-in-class cybersecurity solutions to our customers, offering market-leading protection. Unlike outdated legacy architecture solutions, Cloudflare’s connectivity cloud suite of solutions delivers unparalleled security, providing businesses the confidence to operate in an increasingly digital world.”

Tom Evans, Chief Partner Officer, Cloudflare, said, “Cloudflare is the only company offering a broad range of network security and SASE services through a unified platform built on our own infrastructure, delivering the most comprehensive set of managed solutions. Service providers like MTN are essential to extending critical security protections at scale, and we are thrilled to be partnering together to help protect businesses across Africa. As the demand for managed security services continues to rise, Cloudflare’s connectivity cloud platform is uniquely positioned to enable partners to deliver cost-effective, consolidated cybersecurity. By combining our platform with MTN’s regional expertise, we’re committed to strengthening the security posture and consolidating costs for businesses across Africa.”

Businesses can improve their security and operational efficiency without any interruptions thanks to Cloudflare’s connectivity cloud, which seamlessly integrates with current IT infrastructures. Businesses in South Africa can now improve their digital environments by utilising the partnership between MTN and Cloudflare, which will soon be extended to other African markets.
