Emirates Telecommunications Group (e&) and Hungary’s 4iG Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday to boost digital infrastructure connecting the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe.
This collaboration will focus on developing subsea and land-based cable networks and expanding data centre capacities, including key projects in Albania and Hungary.
Joint push to expand digital infrastructure links
The MoU outlines plans for joint efforts in building and operating advanced digital networks that strengthen connectivity between continents.
This includes subsea cables to improve data traffic routes and new data centres in strategic locations like Albania to support undersea cable traffic.
e&’s expertise in global telecommunications combined with 4iG’s regional footprint aims to deliver expanded digital capabilities and foster cross-regional cooperation.
Hatem Dowidar, Group CEO of e&, emphasised the transformative power of this partnership: “This collaboration is a platform for long-term projects that bridge continents, empower communities, and accelerate inclusive digital transformation across the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe.”
He added that purposeful innovation and infrastructure investments unlock human potential via economic growth and resilience.
4iG Group Chairman, Gellért Jászai, noted that the alliance opens up “new avenues for collaboration across fast-growing digital corridors,” blending regional strength with e&’s global reach to unlock long-term value through innovative projects and shared investments.
This pact enhances connectivity networks vital for digital economies by guiding the momentum of Dubai’s strategic telecom initiatives and regional developments.
The cooperation also aligns with broader regional efforts to leverage infrastructure for economic and technological advancement.
By joining forces on cutting-edge subsea cable systems and large-scale data centres, e& and 4iG are setting the stage for increased data flow efficiency, improved reliability, and expanded digital access across three continents.
This MoU can be seen as a decisive move to shape the region’s next generation of digital infrastructure, supported by both companies’ complementary strengths.
