Mastercard on Thursday unveiled its AI Card Design Studio, a cutting-edge platform that slashes the time needed to design and issue payment cards from weeks to minutes, promising greater customisation, speed, and creative control for issuers worldwide.

What the Mastercard AI Card Design Studio offers

The AI Card Design Studio offers its partners access to premium design capabilities by leveraging Mastercard’s brand and card manufacturing know-how.

Users can use AI-assisted design features, upload logos and product details, modify as necessary, and download brand-compliant designs instantly.

Things that used to take weeks can now be finished in minutes, speeding up time to market while allowing for greater emotional impact and creative flexibility.

As the tool continues to evolve, banks will be able to enable small businesses and consumers to create their own card designs, giving them direct creative control in a time when personalisation and self-expression are hallmarks.

Mastercard’s initiative to streamline card design and development process

With this launch, Mastercard continues its larger initiative to streamline the card design and development process. For example, AI-powered card design reviews simplify backend operations.

Mastercard is now using this same approach in the creative process with the AI Card Design Studio, which gives partners greater control and clarity right away.

The platform frees up time to concentrate on higher-level creative strategy while empowering creative teams with compelling design tools.

“The AI Card Design Studio is a game-changer,” said Cheryl Guerin, executive vice president of Global Brand Strategy and Innovation at Mastercard.

“We’re transforming card design into an experience that’s easier, more dynamic and more inspiring. This isn’t just a design tool, it’s a leap forward in how cards are imagined, built and brought to life. By putting powerful capabilities directly in our partners’ hands, we’re enabling them to create cards that don’t just function – they connect.”

Mastercard’s commitment to innovation and excellence

Mastercard’s longstanding dedication to design innovation and excellence is expanded upon by the AI Card Design Studio.

Mastercard has continuously pushed the limits of design, from creating the first multisensory branding and the inclusive Touch Card to launching its sustainable card program that aims to eliminate first-use PVC plastics from its network by 2028. This new tool, which enables issuers to swiftly create distinctive designs, is a logical continuation of that legacy.

Through the Mastercard Connect platform, the Mastercard AI Card Design Studio is currently available in North America, Europe, and Australia, with plans to expand globally in the near future.
