MTN Eswatini announced on Wednesday that Wandile Mtshali, its CEO for the past five years, will be leaving to pursue new opportunities.
“The Board of Directors of MTN Eswatini wishes to inform our valued stakeholders and the public that, as the contract of our Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Wandile Mtshali, comes to a conclusion, after five (5) years of service at the helm, he will be leaving the business to pursue other professional interests,” the company announced.

Wandile Mtshali’s 25 years of impact at MTN
Throughout his 25 years with MTN, Wandile has held senior positions in a number of markets.
He started his incredible career with MTN as a network engineer and worked his way up to chief technical officer for MTN Guinea-Bissau, MTN Eswatini, and MTN South Sudan, before becoming chief executive officer.
At a pivotal moment, he took over as leader and led the company through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with tenacity, vision, and unwavering commitment.
Jerry J. Soko to take over as interim CEO
Jerry J. Soko, SEA’s General Manager of Commercial & Operations, will take over as Interim CEO on November 1, 2025, until the telco appoints a permanent replacement. It wished Soko luck in his new role as well.
“We are pleased to announce that Mr. Jerry Soko will assume the role of Interim CEO effective 01 November 2025, while the process to appoint a substantive CEO is underway,” the company stated.
