Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Amr Talaat, met on Monday in Cairo with Indian Ambassador to Egypt, Suresh Reddy, to discuss deepening cooperation in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector.

According to a ministry statement, the talks focused on outsourcing, digital skills development, artificial intelligence (AI), start-up support, and attracting more Indian investment into Egypt’s growing ICT market.

Expanding ICT cooperation between Egypt and India

The meeting reviewed the progress of projects under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries. This agreement spans several strategic areas, including e-government, ICT industry growth, entrepreneurship, electronics design and manufacturing, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.

Both sides highlighted the role of Indian companies already active in Egypt’s outsourcing and electronics manufacturing sectors.

Talaat underscored the ICT sector’s position as one of the fastest-growing contributors to the Egyptian economy, particularly through outsourcing, which has attracted increasing foreign partnerships.

He also pointed to the collaboration between Egypt’s Information Technology Institute (ITI) and its Indian counterpart in building digital skills, describing this as a cornerstone for future cooperation.

Talaat said he hopes new initiatives from his ministry will strengthen Egypt’s digital talent pool and open fresh opportunities for joint projects.

Indian investment and support for digital transformation

Indian investment in Egypt has grown steadily in outsourcing, digital transformation, and electronics production. Talaat welcomed this momentum, noting that the presence of Indian IT companies is already yielding tangible benefits to Egypt’s economy.

The talks also covered ways to attract more Indian firms to Egypt, especially in areas like AI, start-up incubation, and advanced ICT services. Ambassador Reddy stressed India’s interest in supporting Egypt’s digital transformation journey, calling the partnership “mutually beneficial.”

Given its large talent base and strategic location, he added that India views Egypt as a promising hub for ICT growth in the Middle East and Africa. Strengthening cooperation would serve both nations and contribute to wider regional digital development.

Artificial Intelligence and global ICT events

The Indian Ambassador congratulated Egypt on being selected to host the first edition of the AI Everything Middle East and Africa Summit and Exhibition in February 2026.

The event will unite policymakers, researchers, and businesses to explore AI’s economic and social development role.

Reddy noted that India will also host the AI Impact Summit in the same month, highlighting how these parallel events allow both countries to showcase their capabilities and foster international collaboration in artificial intelligence.

He expressed confidence that ICT ties between Egypt and India would continue to grow stronger, especially as both nations share common goals in innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital economy expansion.

Sherine El Gendy, Assistant ICT Minister for Strategy and Implementation, and Samah Aziz, Head of International Relations at the ministry, attended the meeting.

Egypt and India’s renewed commitment to ICT cooperation signals a broader push for innovation-driven economic growth, with outsourcing, AI, and digital capacity building standing out as central pillars of their partnership.
