Mr Andy Meng, Vice President of Global Business at TINNO, and Frehiwot Tamru, CEO of Ethio Telecom, convened a high-level strategic meeting with senior leadership teams from both companies to discuss opportunities for transformative collaboration.
Joint efforts to increase access to reasonably priced smart devices in Ethiopia and throughout the African continent were the main topic of discussion.
In order to greatly increase device availability, affordability, and the wider digital ecosystem, these plans place a strong emphasis on the development of a local smart device manufacturing facility and the introduction of affordable devices using an Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) model.
Africa’s enormous potential during the meeting
CEO Frehiwot Tamru emphasised Africa’s enormous potential during the meeting, as well as Ethio Telecom’s sizable customer base, sophisticated network infrastructure, and strong market position.
She emphasised how this kind of partnership is entirely in line with the business’s three-year strategic plan, “Next Horizon: Digital & Beyond 2028.”
Frehiwot also underlined the significance of a “digital-first” strategy, which puts an emphasis on device penetration in order to reduce the usage gap, improve digital literacy, and strengthen marginalised communities, especially in rural areas.
TINNO’s commitment to partner with Ethio Telecom to develop affordable devices
In addition to praising Ethio Telecom’s leadership and enormous growth potential in promoting digital transformation throughout the continent, TINNO reaffirmed its strong commitment to working with the company to develop affordable device solutions, including helping the company set up a local manufacturing facility.
Ethio Telecom is committed to advancing Ethiopia’s digital transformation agenda and growing its presence throughout Africa as part of its larger mission.
The company wants to accelerate inclusive digital economies and open up new avenues for socioeconomic growth by strategically focusing on lowering the cost and increasing the accessibility of smart devices for everyone.
