Slack is turning one of its oldest tools into an AI assistant to increase the productivity of millions. The new Slackbot can help with complex platform tasks as a conversational AI.

What’s changed with Slackbot?

Slackbot will soon chat like an AI instead of sending reminders or suggestions. It will access your discussions and files to help you organise tasks or find information.

Slack says, “The upgraded Slackbot will work just like similar AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT.” A chatbox lets users engage with it directly, improving efficiency.

Integration with popular platforms

The new Slackbot will connect seamlessly with frequently utilised services, including Salesforce, OneDrive, and Google Drive. Slack collaborates with AI leaders like OpenAI and Anthropic to integrate advanced agents into the workspace. For instance, users can instruct Slackbot to analyse documents or conduct web queries from a single platform.

When will it launch?

Approximately 70,000 users have access to the more intelligent Slackbot, which is currently in beta testing. Slack intends to distribute the complete version to all users by January 2026, allowing organisations to turn it off.

This update from Slack is intended to revolutionise how teams communicate and collaborate, as AI continues to drive innovation.
