Engr. Kaka emphasised Nigeria’s advancements through the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, with NITDA playing a pivotal role in its implementation.

The strategy, which builds on initiatives like the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR) and the ongoing 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, aims to drive ethical AI adoption, foster local innovation, and position Nigeria as a global AI contender.

Nationwide digital literacy efforts

The agency also highlighted nationwide digital literacy efforts through the National Digital Literacy Framework and the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) Initiative, which aim to empower citizens and bridge the digital divide.

Both sides stressed the importance of forward-thinking government policies and strong regulatory frameworks to spur private-sector innovation and attract foreign investment in emerging technologies, including cryptocurrency, blockchain, and AI. These elements are essential for building trust, mitigating risk, and accelerating sustainable growth in the digital space.

The dialogue identified tangible avenues for collaboration, including Nigeria’s potential participation in Singapore’s Cooperation Programme and targeted capacity-building and policy training from Singapore. Such exchanges could enhance technical expertise, regulatory alignment, and joint initiatives in AI governance and digital infrastructure.

Reflection of Singapore’s interest in expanding partnerships across Africa

This engagement reflects Singapore’s interest in expanding partnerships across Africa, leveraging its renowned expertise in smart nation initiatives, fintech, and AI ethics to complement Nigeria’s vast market potential, youthful population, and rapidly expanding tech ecosystem.

Observers view the meeting as a milestone in Nigeria-Singapore relations, signalling stronger cooperation in digital transformation amid global competition in emerging technologies. For Nigeria, it reinforces its ambition to lead Africa’s digital economy while leveraging Singapore’s proven models of innovation-driven development.

The partnership promises mutual gains: Nigeria gains access to advanced know-how and training, while Singapore taps into one of Africa’s most dynamic markets for collaborative growth in AI and the broader digital economy.
