Branded Blue Chip+, the offering is described as the first of its kind in the local market, offering investors exposure to both leading cryptocurrencies and major American technology stocks through a single rand transaction.
The company said in a blog post yesterday that the bundle is structured to provide diversified access to two established asset classes without requiring separate purchases or offshore processes.
Blue Chip+ combines crypto and leading US tech stocks
According to Luno, the Blue Chip+ bundle comprises 20 per cent Bitcoin, 10 per cent Ethereum, and 70 per cent tokenised US blue-chip stocks.
The stock component includes global technology leaders such as Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Meta, Google, Tesla and Amazon.
“The Blue Chip+ Bundle is designed to balance growth and resilience by spreading your investment across leading tech stocks and established crypto assets, said Christo de Wit, Country Manager for South Africa at Luno.
He added: “You can access global markets without currency conversions, offshore allowances, or waiting for US trading hours. With the BlueChip+ Bundle, you can get instant exposure to market leaders across both crypto and equity markets.”
Luno noted that the product builds on the momentum it has seen since introducing tokenised stocks in August 2025.
The platform reports more than 30,000 investors have already bought tokenised shares, with Tesla tokenised stock accounting for the largest holdings by value at nearly R24 million.
The exchange currently lists 61 US tokenised stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), forming the broader ecosystem from which the Blue Chip+ bundle draws its equity exposure.
How the Luno bundle operates
Luno explained that the tokenised stocks included in Blue Chip+ are fully backed by real shares held in regulated custody through integrations with Kraken’s xStocks and Backed Finance.
Dividends from these shares are automatically reinvested, while the Bitcoin and Ethereum components are held in custody.
To maintain its target structure, the bundle is automatically rebalanced quarterly. Blue Chip+ is available exclusively via the Luno app to investors in South Africa.
