Why Enugu was selected

Enugu was chosen as the host city to help spread tech growth beyond the usual big hubs in Nigeria.

The city is growing fast, with more young people, developers, and schools getting involved in blockchain and Web3, making it a strong upcoming tech centre.

More details about speakers, partners, and the full event schedule will be announced in the coming months.

The festival will include a main summit, hackathons, workshops, and community events for different parts of the Web3 space.

Developers will join hands-on sessions, while founders and investors will focus on networking and funding opportunities.

There will also be cultural and social activities, giving attendees a chance to experience local life in Enugu alongside the tech event.

About Enugu Blockchain Week 2026

Enugu Blockchain Week (EBW) 2026 is part of a bigger plan to make Nigeria a strong hub for blockchain and Web3 in Africa.

It started in 2024 as a one-day event called Web3Conf Enugu, created to introduce people in South East Nigeria to Web3. As interest grew, the organisers added a hackathon, which brought in developers and led to new ideas and projects.

By 2025, the event had expanded to a full week, with workshops, side events, and a main conference supported by various partners. This growth showed that more people were getting involved in the Web3 space.

As a result of this progress, the event was rebranded as Enugu Blockchain Week.

As they explained, “our scope had grown beyond a single conference. We needed a name that reflected our expanded vision and positioned us as a premier blockchain destination—leading to the rebrand as Enugu Blockchain Week.”

Now, in 2026, it is set to grow even larger, bringing together developers, founders, investors, and enthusiasts for learning, networking, and collaboration.

The organisers state that “we’re expanding our vision to create Africa’s premier blockchain destination.”

The aim is to grow Nigeria’s role in the global Web3 space and highlight Enugu as an emerging tech hub.
