Absa Bank has formally introduced “Absa Mobi Tap,” its newest invention, which will revolutionise how Zambian businesses, especially SMEs, receive payments.

With this solution, businesses can easily accept payments from debit or credit cards and mobile money across all networks using an Absa Mobi Tap device or an NFC-enabled Android smartphone.

Hon. Felix Chipota Mutati, MP, Minister of Science and Technology, represented by Mr George Matulula, Director of Human Resources and Administration, praised the initiative during the launch and emphasised how it aligns with Zambia’s national objectives as outlined in the Science and Technology Policy and Vision 2030.

Absa Bank’s dedication to bolstering business expansion via Mobi Tap

Absa Bank’s Managing Director, Mrs Mizinga Melu, underscored the bank’s ongoing dedication to fostering innovation and bolstering business expansion.

Additionally, Tigmoo Dot Com Zambia CEO, Mr Vikas Kumar, who has already implemented the payment solution, urged SMEs to embrace it as a potent instrument for expanding their enterprises.

Tigmoo said, “We have already adopted this solution. Our riders are now already using it to accept payments — it’s fast, easy, and reliable. This is what digital innovation looks like when it actually works for the people.”

Tigmoo added that they have always supported digital innovation that makes life easier for people attempting to expand, including entrepreneurs, SMEs, and business owners.

About Absa Mobi Tap

The Absa Mobi Tap is a more innovative and user-friendly payment system that enables users to accept debit and credit cards as well as mobile money from any network with just an Android phone that supports NFC or the Mobi Tap device. It allows customers to simply tap and go; no costly hardware is required.

Tigmoo appreciated Absa Bank Zambia PLC and its CEO, Mizinga Melu, for their unwavering support of solutions that strengthen “real businesses on the ground”.

Tigmoo CEO Vikas Kumar shared, “Absa and Tigmoo have been partners for over seven years. They’ve been part of our journey from the early days, and we’re proud to be among the first to use this innovation.”

This invention, which streamlines payments, increases productivity, and addresses the actual needs of regional companies, is yet another revolutionary step in Zambia’s digital transformation process.

“To every entrepreneur, SME owner, and enterprise leader: Absa Mobi Tap is your gateway to growth. Let us support you in writing the next chapter of your business story,” the bank stated.
