Verve began operations in 2009 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Interswitch. During a restructure in 2013, it transitioned into an independent company entity.

In Nigeria, Verve sells a variety of card goods. According to reports from 2013, Verve had “over 20 million cards in circulation” and had access to “over 119,631 points of sale terminals, 11,287 ATMs, and over 1,000 online merchants.”
