The Africa Money and DeFi Summit is set to return to Accra this September, with its third edition placing a sharp focus on stablecoins, startup investment, and the technologies reshaping West Africa’s financial landscape.
The two-day event will convene over 500 participants from across Africa and beyond. Industry leaders in fintech, decentralised finance (DeFi), Web3, and embedded finance will gather to examine the future of financial services on the continent.
This year’s edition will explore the rapid uptake of digital finance in West Africa, with sessions dedicated to stablecoins, cross-border payments, digital identity, and regulatory frameworks.
West Africa’s emergence as digital finance leader
Nigeria continues to lead global stablecoin usage with about 25.9 million users, representing 11.9 percent of its population, while Ghana is preparing to introduce formal digital asset regulations by September.
These developments signal the region’s growing importance in the global digital finance ecosystem.
AMDSGH organisers aim to capitalise on this momentum by creating sessions that focus on the growing role of stablecoins in daily commerce, payroll systems, and international remittances.
Other key topics include the rise of embedded finance, AI-driven personalisation in financial services, and the increasing demand for secure digital ecosystems through robust Know Your Customer (KYC) and identity verification systems.
These innovations are expanding access to financial tools for underserved populations, strengthening the push for financial inclusion across the continent.
On the other hand, the event will feature a high-stakes Investment Showcase where selected African startups in fintech, blockchain, and Web3 will pitch live to global investors.
This part is designed to spotlight scalable ventures ready to drive growth and innovation in the African market and the applications for the showcase close on August 13.
