Afrihealth introduces Rigour+ to tackle Drug Counterfeiting

The breakthrough new serialisation technology, known as Rigour+ for Manufacturers, was just unveiled by market leader Afrihealth, a provider of health technology solutions.

The product aims to make a significant impact on the pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution industries not only in Nigeria but also elsewhere.

Additionally, it was announced that Linda Obi would take over as CEO of the company effective immediately. For the purpose of driving this mandate, Linda brings more than 18 years of experience in technology and blockchain.

Afrihealth has developed a new serialisation technology called Rigour+ for Manufacturers. This technology is intended to combat the urgent issue of drug counterfeiting, which is estimated to cost the pharmaceutical industry around the world approximately $200 billion each year.

Manufacturers and importers in Nigeria face significant pain points as a result of a lack of credible track and trace capabilities, which results in production losses of up to 40 percent and significant revenue losses. These problems are a direct result of the lack of credible track and trace capabilities.

The impact of Afrihealth through Rigour+

Rigour+ for Manufacturers is an initiative that seeks to enhance the safety and quality of pharmaceutical products by assisting manufacturers and importers in meeting regulatory requirements. This will be accomplished through the implementation of track-and-trace capabilities as well as proper serialisation.

The technology enables manufacturers to track products at every stage of the supply chain and to quickly and efficiently recall products in the event of a problem. This is made possible by geofencing solutions and location recall, which are both included in the technology.

According to Linda Obi, Afrihealth’s new chief executive officer, “We are proud to introduce Rigour+ for Manufacturers to the Nigerian market and beyond, a powerful serialisation technology that saves manufacturers and importers time and money, optimises their production, and enables them to deliver high-quality products to patients in need.”

The implementation of serialisation technology in the Nigerian pharmaceutical industry could potentially save more than one hundred million dollars annually, as well as contribute to a reduction in the number of instances in which fake drugs are sold.

Rigour+ for manufacturers is properly aligned with regulatory bodies such as GS1 Nigeria and NAFDAC, which ensures that it complies with the most stringent safety and quality standards possible.

“Afrihealth’s Rigour+ is a local, in-country solution with a global impact,” remarked Linda Obi.  “We are committed to providing the best technology solutions to our customers and making a positive impact on public health in Nigeria and beyond,” she added.
