Airtel Africa to equip 25,000 young Nigerians with digital skills training

Airtel Africa Chairman, Sunil Bharti Mitta, declared that the firm would support Nigeria’s 3 Million Technical Talents (3MTT) program, promising to train 25,000 young Nigerians in digital skills in 80 local government areas.

In a statement posted via Airtel Africa’s LinkedIn page on Friday, it claimed that Airtel Africa’s Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, and CEO Sunil Taldar reaffirmed the company’s commitment to empowering Nigeria’s youth and the nation’s digitisation efforts during a high-level meeting with His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja.

Airtel Africa to sponsor 10 Nigerians to study tech-focused courses in India 

He also announced that 10 Nigerian students will be sponsored by the Airtel Africa Fellowship to enrol in tech-focused programs at India’s esteemed Plaksha University, bridging the gap between local talent and international prospects.

Mr. Taldar reaffirmed Airtel Africa’s dedication to developing the nation’s digital economy by means of partnerships and smart investments, saying, “Airtel is deeply invested in Nigeria’s digital future. We are expanding our network, driving financial inclusion, and creating opportunities for the people of Nigeria through technology and innovation. Our collaboration with the government through initiatives like the Airtel Africa Fellowship and 3MTT ensures that Nigeria remains at the forefront of Africa’s digital revolution.”

The statement adds, “Airtel Africa believes in unlocking Africa’s potential through technology, education, and collaboration and through this important meeting, we’re proud to announce a bold step forward for Nigeria’s digital transformation journey.”

Nigeria’s digital economy serves as a model for Africa’s digitisation initiatives, and Airtel Africa has partnered with the nation to hasten this development.

Airtel Africa provides 1,200 Nigerian schools with tablets 

On February 15, Techpression reported that Airtel Africa provided over 1,200 schools with tablets and internet access through the Reimagine Education Programme, giving the teachers and students access to digital learning resources.

The initiative, which is a flagship five-year partnership with UNICEF, has also given over 1 million students access to high-quality digital education resources and trained over 17,000 teachers on their effective usage.
