Airtel Money Zambia, the fintech subsidiary of Airtel Zambia PLC, has launched Global Pay Card, a virtual Mastercard that allows safe international online payments straight from the Airtel Money wallet.
The launch of this initiative is in partnership with Mastercard, Network International, and Access Bank Zambia Limited to increase digital financial inclusion and Zambia’s involvement in the global digital economy.
Airtel Money Global Pay Card to simplify international payments
During the launch, Andrew Chuma of Airtel Money Zambia stressed that the improved service allows users to access international shopping, subscriptions, and services while providing them with more control and convenience for international payments.
Bobbline Cheembela, speaking on behalf of Access Bank Zambia, stated that the partnership provides smooth financial experiences by bridging the gap between mobile money and traditional banking.
Gabriel Swanepoel of Mastercard emphasised that this innovation supports Zambia’s transition to a cashless economy by giving people and businesses access to secure, user-friendly, and dependable digital payment solutions.
How to activate Airtel Money Global Pay Card
To activate the virtual card, customers should follow the instructions:
1. Open the MyAirtel App (update it if you haven’t) and tap the Mastercard logo on your Airtel Money dashboard.
2. Accept the Terms & Conditions and confirm with your Airtel Money PIN.
3. Ensure your ZRA TPIN is registered and updated on your Airtel Money account. Once validated, you’ll receive an SMS confirmation.
4. Once set up, users can load funds from their Airtel Money wallet and make instant international payments through Mastercard’s secure global network.
The collaboration reflects a common goal of enabling all Zambians with mobile phones to participate in international trade.
