With over 60,000 SIM-selling locations, 97 company-owned service centres, and over 2,500 franchise-owned service centres, its distribution network provides reasonably priced services to people in every region without distinction.

It has made its MyAirtel and USSD app menus simpler so that users of smartphones and feature phones can navigate them with ease.

It implements cutting-edge, top-tier technologies to assess and enhance network performance nationwide. In April 2025, it integrated Africa’s first AI-powered “SPAM ALERT” service into its network.

This customer protection service warns its clients about SMS spam. It is a first for its customers and society and part of its commitment to a safer ecosystem.

30.4% increase in overall revenue

With a 30.4 per cent increase in overall revenue, the data segment still shapes Airtel Uganda’s growth story. During the reporting period, it saw a 22.7 per cent increase in average data usage per subscriber and a 25.9 per cent increase in data users.

The company’s network’s overall data traffic increased by 57.4 per cent due to continuous network upgrades and expansion investments.

The expansion of partner device distribution networks and device financing partnerships is beginning to pay off.

As the country’s top technological innovator, Airtel Uganda continues to empower Ugandans and their businesses by providing access to international opportunities.

Its goal is to increase data usage in all markets by encouraging more people to use smartphones and extending Airtel Smart Connect Wi-Fi to every home and workplace.

The Myairtel app transforms customers’ interactions with the company and its offerings. On average, there are 1.25 million active users each month.

Commitment of $87.8 billion in capital expenditures to fortify its core network

The company continued its investment efforts in Uganda, committing US$87.8 billion in capital expenditures for H1 2025 to fortify its core network. Increasing network capacity was the main goal to reduce congestion and enhance user experience.

In the past year, it has introduced 176 new 4G sites to increase coverage and capacity. Consequently, its 4G coverage increased to 91.5 per cent of the population.

In line with its plan to improve site connectivity, control growing data traffic, and hasten the Airtel Smart Connect wifi rollout for homes and businesses, it has added 1,793 km to its fibre network in the past year.

In H1 2025, the nation’s inflation rate averaged 3.6 per cent, down from 3.4 per cent in H1 2024. Higher remittance inflows and export revenue have caused the Ugandan shilling to gain 2.4 per cent against the US dollar this year. For the duration under review, the central bank kept its benchmark interest rate at 9.75 per cent.

Airtel Uganda’s Corporate Social Responsibility

The company’s partnership with the Buganda Kingdom to join the fight to end HIV/AIDS by 2030 is part of its ongoing commitment to society.

In April 2025, it wrapped up the 12th edition of the Airtel Kabaka Birthday Run, which was a collaboration with more than 120,000 runners who came together to support the cause.

During this time, it also extended the Airtel-UNICEF partnership by providing internet access to an additional 133 schools. It is reaching 2,505 teachers and over 40,000 students across 167 schools.
