Andela, a prominent global tech talent marketplace, has teamed with the Linux Foundation’s Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) to train 20,000 African professionals in cloud-native skills.

The news was made public at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America on November 15, 2024. The training program will take place from 2025 to 2027.

The cloud computing skills gap, which drives innovation and scalability across industries, is being addressed by this strategic alliance. By giving African developers vital skills, the initiative improves careers and strengthens Africa’s digital hub status.

Cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes power current software development and infrastructure. However, these tool experts are few in businesses worldwide. This alliance helps organisations satisfy talent demands while giving African developers worldwide roles.

Free training and certification opportunities

In order to help participants obtain credentials like Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) and Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA), the program will offer free training for three years.

Andela’s talent marketplace, with over 150,000 tech experts, mostly from Africa, will be the emphasis. The training will include mentorship and a supportive community.

Tackling the global talent gap

The partnership comes as cloud-native talent is in high demand worldwide. Cloud skills gaps delay projects, raise costs, and negatively impact competitiveness. By 2025, 7.5 million cloud jobs will go unfulfilled.

“By collaborating with Andela, we aim to empower African developers and help close the global tech talent gap,” said Chris Aniszczyk, CTO of CNCF.

Andela CEO Carrol Chang spoke on Africa’s growing need for tech talent and its ability to fill the worldwide gap.

“This partnership with CNCF aligns perfectly with our mission to empower African developers. By equipping them with cloud-native skills, we’re enabling them to tap into opportunities in the global tech industry,” she stated.

Participants will train for six to nine months to succeed in the global tech business. This program represents Andela’s commitment to empowering African developers and expanding global digital opportunities.

Don’t miss out on this transformative opportunity! The partnership between Andela and CNCF is set to empower 20,000 African developers with essential cloud-native skills, paving the way for exciting global job prospects. This initiative not only addresses the tech talent gap but also enhances career growth for participants.
