Apple, the American manufacturer-based gadget producer, has revealed that Ads will begin to appear in the App Store, allowing users to discover new iPhone applications. Additionally, Apple may add compatibility for other browsers to its Apple Pay service.

The announcement was made on Saturday that advertisements would be featured in the App Store for the apps. This would assist developers in promoting their apps and make it easier for them to target their most important users.

Moreover, Apple recently released a major update to watchOS 9 during the WWDC 2022 keynote, which includes new health features. Apple will introduce new apps such as AFib history, a workout app, a sleep tracking app, and so on.

Ads On Apple Store

Before, the company was severely limited to displaying advertisements to users. However, it has opened a door for many developers without negatively affecting the experience of the users.

Developers have previously been able to advertise their apps on the App Store’s search results page and in the Search tab. According to Apple, these ad placements have been a huge success for app developers, helping them locate consumers who might be interested in their apps. To keep the App Store as the greatest platform for app developers to expand their companies, Apple is increasing the number of ad options available in the store.

“Apple Search Ads provides opportunities for developers of all sizes to grow their business. Like our other advertising offerings, these new ad placements are built upon the same foundation—they will only contain content from apps’ approved App Store product pages, and will adhere to the same rigorous privacy standards.”

The advertisement will appear not only on the home feed but also in the area labeled “You Might Also Like,” as shown in the screenshot above. Similar to other apps, it will show the user an ad tag on the adverts they see.

Apple revealed its revenue report for the third quarter last week. The report showed that the firm is doing well with its growth and is climbing 2 percent year over year. However, to put in more effort, Apple said it will be placing advertisements in the App Store.

Apple’s priority of protecting its customers’ privacy is a central theme throughout its App Store advertising. The new advertisements will adhere to the same standards and policies utilized across the board for all of Apple’s products and services. When customers initially launch any of Apple’s apps, such as the App Store, Apple News, or Apple Stocks, they are presented with the option to decide whether or not they would like to enable personalized advertisements.

Ads Placement On Apple Store

The Today tab, the home page of the App Store, will have the first new ad opportunity as part of these initiatives. Developers will be able to advertise their apps alongside the App Store team’s daily editorial content with Today App Store adverts. Ads in the App Store are easy to spot because they are clearly labelled as such. The Today tab is the first tab pre-loaded when the ‌App Store‌ app is started and was introduced as part of the ‌App Store‌ makeover in 2017.

The second new location for ads available to developers in the App Store will be directly within the apps’ pages. Advertisements will be displayed in the space designated for “You Might Also Like” towards the page’s footer and will be easily identifiable as paid placements.

Apple Pay To Become Accessible On Other Browsers

With the release of iOS 16, Apple may make it possible for Apple Pay to function in other browsers. As seen in the above screenshots, there is an option to “Continue using Apple Pay.”

According to a tweet from a reputable developer named Steve Moser, Apple Pay would function on other browsers. He discovered this feature in version 16 beta 4 of iOS. Like iOS 14, Apple Pay support has been added to Safari in iOS 15.

After testing it in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, Steve came to the conclusion that it would function properly in any third-party browser such as Brave and Mozilla Firefox.

Observations

Soon, Apple will test the new ad placements with a small group of developers.

Aside from that, Apple has not confirmed the Apple Pay browser compatibility capability, so we must wait for the launch of iOS 16, which is scheduled to take place later this year.

Ron Schneidermann, CEO of the popular hiking and camping app AllTrails, said that Apple’s App Store ads have helped “attract new, more engaged customers across markets” and have become a key part of the company’s growth plan.

“Apple Search Ads helped us attract new, more engaged customers across markets. We rely on Apple Search Ads for cost-effective customer acquisition – it’s a critical component of our growth strategy. As they become available, we plan to invest in new placements to reach even more customers on the App Store and continue to drive our business growth.”
