Apple is set to unveil a series of major updates for its iPhone, Safari browser, and Camera app at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, kicking off on Monday.

The event promises a fresh wave of software enhancements that will reshape user experience across Apple devices, with CEO Tim Cook leading the keynote from Apple Park in Cupertino, California.

iOS 26 brings a visual overhaul, and the app revamps

One of the standout announcements will be the launch of iOS 26, which introduces a significant visual redesign inspired by the aesthetics of Apple’s Vision Pro.

Users can expect a more translucent “glass” look featuring softer, rounded elements, revamped app icons, and reimagined toolbars that create a unified design language across iPhones, iPads, and even CarPlay.

Key apps are getting major overhauls. The Phone app will feature a new “single, scrollable window” that consolidates recent calls, missed calls, favourite contacts, and voicemails into one streamlined view, although the traditional layout will remain optional.

Safari will receive a sleeker, semi-transparent address bar with enhanced AI-powered search recommendations and tools for better content organisation.

The Camera app is also set for a revamp, focusing on a more straightforward user interface, new shooting modes, improved low-light performance, and integrated professional-level editing tools that may reduce the need for third-party apps.

The Messages app will also gain new features, such as creating polls within conversations and setting custom background images for chats, enhancing interactivity and personalisation.

Apple’s strategic focus amid AI and hardware challenges

While AI has been a dominant theme in the tech industry, Apple’s WWDC 2025 will focus more on refining its operating systems and app experiences than on a major AI breakthrough.

Despite earlier promises, the rollout of Apple Intelligence and an AI-powered Siri revamp have been delayed. Instead, Apple plans to empower third-party developers to build AI apps using its foundational models, signalling a more cautious approach to AI integration.

The event also comes at a challenging time for Apple, facing issues like China tariffs and questions about its hardware roadmap. Analysts expect the announcements to be incremental but impactful, especially with the visual overhaul of the user interface and the broad adoption of the visionOS design language across all Apple platforms, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS and visionOS.

WWDC 2025 will be a crucial moment for Apple to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing user experience through design and functionality, setting the stage for the next generation of Apple devices and software. The keynote begins at 10:30 PM IST on Monday, June 9, and will be closely watched by developers and Apple enthusiasts worldwide
